Of course, Bolsanaro and family will get visas! Never in doubt. Next question: what excuse will be given for refusing Brazil’s upcoming extradition request? (Hint: money laundering no longer a big deal with this DOJ, especially for friends of the boss.)

John Hudson@johnphudson.bsky.social

New: "The State Department will issue visas to Flavio Bolsanaro and his family and allow them entry into the United States," per a senior State Department official

And, to take out any troop or commander who won’t obey every illegal order from the commander in chief. Ironic that Xi is also purging PLA leadership in the same way for the same reasons. Which of these leaders is worse for his country?

Pretty clear Hegseth’s primary mission is to transform the military ideologically by overtly indoctrinating troops with Christian nationalism and apocalyptic holy war messaging while rooting out those who don’t want to participate and just want to serve their country admirably.

Last, build partnership with local government and university leadership to support, train and equip law enforcement to investigate and prosecute these cases and provide support for victims. When we show that sexual assault will be prosecuted (when facts support) and victims matter, all benefit!

Douglas @dfolk.bsky.social

We want all students to be safe and make the most of the university experience. But the current model doesn’t work! When a student reports an assault today, their university has far too many reasons to contain, cover up, and avoid the uncomfortable truth to avoid embarrassment to the institution.

Next, educate incoming students about rights and responsibilities. If they are told—Day One— that offenders won’t be protected from prosecution and all students must take responsibility for making good choices (don’t drink or use drugs, have a plan to get home safely, etc.), we can do better!

Listen to the women! Universities must hand off sexual assault complaints to local law enforcement for investigation and prosecution (where warranted). Campus security forces are unqualified and under-resourced to manage this. Hold local law enforcement and prosecutors accountable to protect us

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Jennifer Weiner is one of many women “who’d spent their undergraduate years marching and protesting,” she writes in a guest essay. For these women, fury over the Cornell sexual assault case “was laced with a kind of bewildered exhaustion. How is this still happening?”

A good result, although it took far too long to accomplish. Any—ALL—lawyers, judges or public officials who violated his/her oath to uphold the Constitution and laws of US or states because they backed the 2021 coup attempt must pay the price.

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the lawyer John Eastman disbarred for his role in seeking to overturn the 2020 election in favor of Donald Trump.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone. But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

Thanks to all who serve their neighbors during times of religious observances, and thanks to all those secular neighbors who do as well; we are all one community.

During Ramadan, delivery workers spend their days traversing the city — often fasting, often alone — pulling over to catch the sunset with a date and water. Work that is so often solitary deserves moments of solidarity. Thank you, Los Deliveristas Unidos, for hosting a beautiful iftar tonight.

What else could Hegseth say? He had no other sensible reason for war. /s Captures this surreal moment just about perfectly! And how are our troops expected to refuse an illegal order when they are told it’s “God’s will”? This is the mirror image of Iran’s logic for endless jihad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jonathan Larsen@jonathanlarsen.bsky.social

EXCLUSIVE: At more than 30 installations, U.S. commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war. The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been “inundated” with more than 110 complaints. One NCO said they were told the U.S. war is to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus…

💯 Too weak!! Nothing but weak sauce from leadership.

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

The entire Democratic strategy debate — "moderate" or move left? fight or compromise? — is based on a misreading of data. Voters don't think Dems are too progressive; they think Dems are weak. The actual math on what to do about this isn't even close! New: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/new-poll-d...

Just do it! For the good of the sport and, perhaps, for the rest of the world appalled by our politics.

Trump and Rubio are doing such a great job running Venezuela that the U.S. is now warning Americans to leave Venezuela to escape armed militias. And they want companies to go to Venezuela? No way companies will do that. Trump’s Venezuela operation is a disaster. www.foxnews.com/world/us-war...

HERE Jack Smith sets out Trump’s direct culpability and complicity in the federal election interference case, including January 6th:

Do you think it’s a coincidence that Trump said today he would soon talk with Bolsonaro? Of course, it would be much easier to take that call if Brazil’s presidential felon escaped to claim asylum in the US Embassy. So glad we respect for the rule of law in Brazil!

BREAKING: Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested. Brazil's Supreme Court ordered his transfer to prison after he allegedly tried to break his electronic ankle monitor. Bolsonaro admitted to police he used a "soldering iron" on the device, claiming he did it "out of curiosity." Read more here 👇

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged. Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Certainly DOJ will interview former employees and vendors who serviced Epstein properties, and subpoena any CCTV video from his properties as part of its “investigation”. There are bound to be MANY workers who can say who was there and what went on. /s

Murphy: "It's clearly the biggest scandal in presidential history. He wouldn't be acting this way if he wasn't so deeply worried about what's in those files. What we've already seen is immensely incriminating. Clearly Trump was at the center of a child sex ring ... the scandal could bring him down."

This is, unsurprisingly, nonsensical. Is he suggesting eliminating health insurance and giving people a few thousand dollars instead? And then when they get a cancer diagnosis they just go bankrupt? He is so unserious. That's why we are shut down and Americans know it.

This is what oligarchy looks like: If you're Elon Musk, the richest man alive, Tesla gives you a $1 trillion pay package & Trump gives you a huge tax break. If you're a poor kid on SNAP, Trump appeals a court decision that would have prevented you from going hungry. Obscene.

No solidarity. Reporters let Trump talk this way to a woman reporter and then clamor to get their own question answered. He used to do it to April Ryan, Yamiche Alcindor and Abby Phillip. And that’s why he controls media. No solidarity.

Trump tells a reporter who asks him about going to war with American cities to “be quiet” and “listen”

And his fellow members of the Cuban emigré community who had their temporary protected status revoked by his Dear Leader should never let him forget this either.

Marco Rubio could have stayed in the US Senate and, much like John McCain, provided some defense against Trump's authoritarianism, but instead he will be remembered as a coward who sold his soul.
