The comic book premiered at The Center of Gravity’s Black Hole Week Copenhagen 2026, alongside a public exhibition of large-format comic posters in the city's historic Kongens Nytorv square.

The Black Hole Comic Project brought together physicists from the Center of Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute (Copenhagen) and students from The Animation Workshop/VIA University College (Viborg) to turn black hole physics into original graphic stories.

"I would love to workshop a way to portray them in an accessible and entertaining way, while also sticking to scientifically accurate information," said artist Wania Nowosielska, one of six students behind the project, when she applied to join.

✨How did you get interested in LISA or science? "I have always been fascinated by technology and by understanding how things work, even from a very young age. By chance, my professional path led me to work on the JUICE mission, and that is where I fell in love with scientific space missions.

✨What are you most excited for about LISA? 🚀 "What excites me most is knowing that behind every future science date coming from LISA there will be decades of engineering effort from thousands of people who turned an extraordinary idea into reality.

How did you get interested in LISA or science? In 2006-2007, I met Prof. Peter Bender during my Chadra Fellowship at the University of Colorado in Boulder: Peter had been among the first to propose a LISA-type mission, and his enthusiasm for the science that could be achieved by LISA was contagious.

✨What are you most excited for about LISA? "LISA is a frontier mission: every initial detection of any source type will be a first of its kind. I am excited in anticipation of the entirely new and likely unexpected knowledge these data will provide us."

The plan is to create a shared code that both collaborations can use to run a joint analysis, and to produce two papers: one on cosmological GW signals across different frequency bands, and one introducing the code to the community.

Some gravitational-wave signals may be too complex for one detector to capture alone. This is where the new ET-LISA Synergy Project comes in. For the first time, the LISA and ET communities are officially joining forces to explore how space-based and ground-based detectors can work together.

More than 40 researchers spanning Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom and Asia are now building shared analysis tools and developing joint methods to search for cosmological gravitational-wave signals, including possible echoes from the early Universe. 👀

Tracking water with LISA technology: GRACE-C, successor to GRACE & GRACE-FO, carries a laser ranging interferometer with LISA Pathfinder heritage. Sensing nm-scale shifts in satellite separation, it maps Earth's moving water - ice, groundwater, sea level. 🌍🌎🌏 #LISASymposium2026 #NASA

Meet Taiji, a Chinese LISA-class observatory proposal: 3 spacecraft, heliocentric, ~3M km arms, mHz band, early-2030s launch. Together with LISA, it would have a ~100M km baseline for sharper localization. Demo stages funded; full mission awaits approval. #LISASymposium2026 #ICTP-AP #UCAS #CAS
