So it appears I may be the only retail worker in the immediate area who isn't working today. Introverted Retail Worker Survival Lesson #1: Never share your approved days off with your coworkers before they happen. 1/x

Introverted Retail Worker Survival Lesson #2: Get in as early as possible, so you can get out of there as soon as possible. Perfect avoidance of co-workers, since no one wants to work that shift. More lessons to follow as necessary. /fin

So today I had my first legit...unhinged?...customer. Stomped up my lane while I was helping someone else, demanded that "I have to get out of here", threw a bag of hair bands and a pack of gum onto my register belt...1/x

She kept demanding to know the price of the gum, so I checked with my scanner (My Zebra wouldn't have been quick enough), so with my customer's approval, I scanned the price; $4 something with tax. I removed it from my customer's total... 3/x

...and then she threw a $5 bill at my customer demanding that *she* pay it because I'd already added it to her bill (plese see above), so then she would be free to take her fucking gum and leave. 4/x

...and then demanded that I check her out first (yes, I know how to suspend a transaction, but I ain't doing that because I know better). I began to descalate, flipped my light on for manager-level help; C was out in the parking lot rounding up carts. 2/x

It's fabulous...mushroom (perhaps two?) sprites ride giant snails and yes, you can make your snail steeds saddles, saddle bags, or maybe you just need a leash for your small snail? It's all here.

I'm really, really loving working on this now not-so little Lacey Thing. That's about 12" unblocked, and I'm thinking I'll just finish the skein. I'll weigh everything and see how much I have left so I can work out what the final length might be. And I need blocking wires.

I'm just about done with my yarn inventory. Oh, my goodness. I, um...have 35 miles of yarn; I did the math, trust me on this. 31 miles of yarn gets you from Philly to New Hope, PA, with more than enough to spare; that extra 4 miles turns into almost 7,000 yards. Please send patterns ASAP.

So I'm doing a yarn inventory. And although I haven't much time to really knit for ages, I kept buying yarn. And if you knit you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's like a treasure hunt, and there's some truly lovely stuff in there.
