P.S. Here's the new episode I mentioned with @llmunro.bsky.social! Great tips for academic writing and public writing. Definitely save this one for later to help you improve how you title your writing for articles and books. Thank you, Lisa. A great conversation 🫶 youtube.com/live/WRMo0VF...

Flight delayed. Probably missing my connecting flight because I have to get off the inbound plane, get through immigration and customs, go through security again, and then change terminals. Impossible to do in 45 minutes. Wheeee! Happy Sunday!

I get what this article is trying to do but framing improving cyclist and pedestrian safety as their responsibility (instead of the motorists that hit and kill them) annoys me. That being said, I do wear a light clipped to my shirt when walking at night. www.npr.org/2025/09/25/n...

npr.org8 walking and biking safety tips that just might save your lifeIn 2024, 7,100 pedestrians were killed on the road, and in recent years, more than 1,000 cyclists have been hit and killed annually. Safety experts explain how bikers and walkers can stay safe.

My cat snuggled with me this morning while we were laying in bed and she decided she wanted to climb up and lay on my stomach. It's the first time my former street cat has done this (she's very clear that she's not a lap cat) and it just felt like such a huge and trusting moment.

Sunday morning bike ride in Mérida, Yucatán. Part of my bike ride was spent practicing left turns through a roundabout. I'm definitely not quite ready to ride a two lane roundabout in rush hour traffic but will say that it was easier than I thought. 🚲

I think learning to ride roundabouts is an important skill because my current strategy to cross is running across the street on foot with my bike (no marked pedestrian crosswalks, wheeeeee!) and I suspect it would be safer to just ride the roundabout like a proper vehicle.

This is your periodic reminder that baby boxes are downstream "solutions" to upstream problems like mental health problems and poverty and that were collectively failing people when we're like, "well, I guess you just have to put the baby in this box."

Like literally, the narrator is like, "I was in a home for unwed mothers and had a baby and then they drugged me and stole the baby and told me he was dead." And I can't even be shocked because I know too much about adoption systems.
