Even Hitler and Putin at least attempted to come up with excuses for their conquests, as lame as they were (ethnic Germans in the Sudetenland, ethnic Russians in the Donbas). It’s actually rare that you hear the quiet part of “we want it, we’re stronge, we’re taking it “
