Some more game dev! Started working on a RT system for patterns on the floor like Zelda’s Gloom you can detect and apply gameplay tags with. Had to have a bit of help from a friend with the c++ for CPU accuracy in the drawing of it, but, it works!! #indiegamedev #UE5

Walking around artist alley this year at AX and every row has a dozen people with some kind of Sonic thing. 5 years ago it would be me and like 3 or 4 other people in the whole place. Crazy how much things have changed in just a few years.

Annndd… There we go!! Feature complete code wise!! All done in Blueprint! Fully functional Cyloop from Frontiers! You can draw as many loops as your trail limit permits, and saved loops are stored and removed relative to trail drawing in real time! #indiegamedev #UE5 #gamedev #sonicfrontiers

I'm speaking from an outsider and a indie game developer perspective here. I got this game after loving Arceus. In my case, it's frustrating when I can see why these issues happen. More money wouldn't solve the problem. Time + Money + good engineers would. But, it's out of love for the game.

People seem to believe that throwing more money at Pokémon would "fix it" and I have never felt so disconnected from an idea. As if Pokémon looking "AAA" would magically transform what ZA fundamentally is. It has transformed Pokémon. It's an action RPG now. What are the consequences of that?

I genuinely love the world, characters, their designs, the music, and the combat and evolutions. I just want to see those ideas be given the flourishes like the City with good geometry, unique lighting, decorations, and the people moving and hearing them talk as I walk through. It's world building

Things look and feel static and it's only so jarring and frustrating to me because I love everything else it's offering and it's me just wanting better. I'm not angry, or going to rage about it, I'm just trying to calmly explain my perspective here. It's up to them to quit using a 3DS engine.

Been messing with UI for a little Sonic Boost formula demo I've been building in my spare time. Found an interesting article from when Sonic Forces released from the UI lead talking about using primary colors and a certain alignment to give things harmony and he was right! #gamedev #indiedev

Picked up my physical copy for the Switch version today. The Generations half runs wonderfully even at 30fps. Beat it all over again in portable mode as soon as I got off work. Still my favorite 3D Sonic game and now, I have it portable proper. Please play this masterpiece 💙🩵🖤❤️

Animation wise, I find Shadow Generations to be far more advanced, obviously. And I find it's story really emotionally rewarding. The ending got me feeling things. Was a bit annoyed Sunset Heights and Chaos Island robbed us of a Shadow 05 stage and potentially another 06 or Heroes stage tho 😤

Completed 100% Shadow Generations for the second time, just to make sure my thoughts were solid. It's great. However, the Boost gameplay in the Sonic half feels more rewarding and the amount of platforming and challenge and dynamic twists and turns along the road in Sonic's half were far better.

Again, Shadow is fun. Most of it is spectacle, straight hallways, even if you're no longer stuck to a track anymore which I appreciate. It's also nice to have longer levels again, those were sorely missed. But, Gens is still the more tightly designed game imo. Thankfully, both are included 😊

You are up to date.
