I went to a very cool Anti-Fascism thing😺 There's another one on the 22nd but I can't go because of work 😿 Anyone like take a sign reminding people to Lead With Aloha Always Be Pono and that Absurdists dislike bad stuff too! (and brush your teeth and wear earplugs!) to the next anti-fascism thing?

Oh thank God it's just America, glad to see the rest of the world hasn't lost it's friggin mind yet, hopefully we can keep it that waaaayyy! And we can try help keep our country from falling into too much chaos these next four years

It's like a music spaceship for the star pillow pilot :3 Grlfrnds single basics tracking session tonight baabbbbyyy! Let's goooo! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸŽ‰πŸ±πŸ₯³

If you don't have a drummer with five arms, then just split the syncopated pitched cowbell part up between the drummer and the keyboard player! Heheeheheehe plus, that means I get to hit something with a stick again! It's on the e of 1 and the and of 2, it's hilarious how well it workssssssπŸ₯³πŸ’œ

I did a thinnnngg! I did a tech talk about the online music business world and it went decently well I think 🐱 Thanks again, Jolin, for this frriiggginnn boossss flyer for the taalk! Technology is getting wild!πŸ₯³

ommmggg i started playing valheim to help my friend and his kids on his server.... Now I can't stop dying every other minute on my own server.... I swear there's real work to be done but this game is too addictive lol

I sent the mix of the original in to the band to see what they think Now back to finishing the dance remix I'm in the weeds with notes to myself about transients versus tonal material But I think I figured out how to accomplish the implied sub bass phase flip to turn 8ths to 16th tremolo!

I like the sound of playback engine more than render engine in ableton, so I always still record to an audio channel then render out that printed audio instead of just relying on the render engine. Idk what's different about them, but I can't shake the idea that something is different about them

Also split all channels into three main busses. Drums, bass, instruments. To check volumes and gains for each group, and add any last compression (parallel comp on the busses!!) And send those to the main master buss, then that to the recording buss

Single synth, sent to audio effect group with three parallel paths, one mono sub with low pass filter at 120, two others high pass filter at 120 hard panned. Delay on one side of the tops at 13.5ms and automate dry wet to add implied tremolo pulse Keys bass mono, but adds complex phasing nicely

Omg this latest mix is so close! I think I need a new sub. My bagends 15 in cinematic sub's slow rate is too slow for really tight, low-end response. Plus, I should get a sub that matches my tops, lol

The new master EQ curve works I think! Now I just gotta bring up the second harmonic of the bass so it translates in smaller speakers and it's dooonnnneee!!! πŸ’œπŸ±πŸ₯³πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ±πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ±πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ±πŸ₯³πŸ±πŸ’œ

Then on to adding keys to the dance track's dance section, and bringing up the longer tonal elements other than the bass to meet the drums and bass in the mix so it doesn't just sound like animal from the Muppets playing over a dub bass hehehehe And possibly take out the phasing pulse in the subs

I'm working on a remix for a band, and I finally called the band leader to update him, and as soon as I got off the phone one of their songs immediately started playing on the radio at the food truck I'm chilling at I don't mind using this happenstance as encouragement!πŸ₯³πŸ±πŸ’œ

I took my dance remixes that I've been working on to my friend's club last night and played it on there big sound system, took notes and snapped a photo of the EQ curve that I applied that made it sound better. This is the curve I should apply at the studio to fix balance in my studio monitors

The upper range boost is an issue with my tops volume and EQ settings, and that low end bump is an issue with the resonance of the acoustics of my space, I think. Or possibly evidence that my crossover between my tops and my sub is misaligned

Almost finished with the polished mix of this live track that I was able to multitrack, and I have this interview with one of my two favorite intellectuals of all time, playing in the background on loop, not a bad start to the work day πŸ₯³πŸ’œπŸ± youtu.be/PNMLlX7tyQk?...

Taking a break to rest my ears and then coming back to do the last automation movements for volume to make sure solos are in the foreground properly The music must flow! *cue the arrakis theme from Dune*

Dance punk band rehearsal complete. Remixes worked on, emails sent. Studio patch bay prep organized. Podcast project recorded. Not a bad day. Tomorrow can take care of itself lol I'm too tired to think about it right now but I'm confident it'll be cool

And so the plan for the new first layers of the patchbay begins! 😻 Going back to basics with this one 1 Tieline out -> 2 Comp Audio In (half normal) 3 Comp Audio out -> 4 Signal Monitoring in (half normal) and my patch bay banks are 24 channels, so my 24 preamps and 24 output routings is perfect!

holy crap this is glorious! hehehehe makes me feel better about my career path being a direct extension of my childhood dreams! Yeaaasssss!!!! πŸ˜»πŸ’œπŸŽ‰

I’m suddenly disappointed in my life decisions

Whew! It's been a minute. Got sucked into helping with some live band event audio mixing (Hooray! I've been able to comfortably slip back into A1 head of mixing for events!) Now it's back to restructuring my patch bay to allow me to reroute instruments from the live room to control room hehehehe πŸ˜»πŸ‘Ύ

There is a musician around town who has the whole passenger seat as a keyboard with PA system setup in his car, sometimes I catch him jamming crazy Jazz licks while he's parked. I aspire to that level of cool

Dgar@dgar.bsky.social

I always keep a guitar in the car. It’s great for traffic jams.

While I was in Japan, the power station that supplied the whole block my studio is on died. Last time I left the island a water cistern broke and flooded the building, almost ruining my whole studio. I guess it really is a sign that I'm not supposed to leave for too long! It was worth it though!πŸ₯³

So good 😻 I gotta find my copies of fragile things and smoke and mirrors now! They're up there with Philip K Dick's short stories as my absolute favorite short stories πŸ₯³πŸ’–πŸ’œ

Composed a quick piece for a podcast intro, tweaked the mix on two tracks, tested the rest of my 500 series outboard gear modules (only two are busted!) And compiled 21 albums worth of underground local music for a potential podcast about the local scene :3 Not an unproductive day πŸ’œπŸ₯³

Hehehehe finally changed out the old broken piano with some fun stuff! Vintage Roland electric keys and a full weighted keys yamaha piano as well! Plus a little mixer for vocal mic and phone input. Plus we have two drum kits in the room, so we can do drum lessons more easily πŸ₯³πŸ±πŸ’–πŸ’œπŸ₯³πŸ’–πŸ±! So stoked!

Heheheh sounds like an alternate reality version of snowcrash and I kinda wanna read it even as I fear it coming to be!

the year is 2035. the two remaining jobs are doordash and whistleblower assassin

Bigmood, so often I feel like my brain is a character in a Philip k dick story and I'm simultaneously for it, and terrified of it! Lol

bakoon@bakoon.bsky.social

in phillip k dicks short story "I Hope The Pizza Dude Shall Arrive Soon" a man in a malfunctioning cryosleep pod aboard a spacecraft is stuck in a repeated memory loop of waiting for the pizza dude to arrive late one night back on earth

Finally sitting down to sing and play some covers I've always wanted to learn Whale bones - man man Chateaux loby #4 - father John misty White wine in the sun - Tim Minchin I thought white wine in the sun would be harder, but i think I'm understanding most of the broad brush strokes :)

Holy crap, I gotta get informed! What the heck is going on in New York?! Are we still responding with police violence to peaceful college protests?!
