Had fun last week trying to get a package from UPS. I ordered some things from the UK and knew there would be a tariff and fees, but the amount was crazy. It was over 75% of the total purchase. Found information to contest the fess, and they lowered the amount. However, it was still exorbitant.

Then after I paid, they would not deliver the package as the delivery person's device said aI still owed the full amount. I called 3 days in a row with the support folks telling me that things had been corrected only for the driver to see on their device the false info that I had not paid.

This is insane, my ipad is not recognizing my passcode. I was prompted to enter the code for an upgrade and now it is locked out for 5 mins after failing 3 times and waiting 1 minute and then trying again.

Ok, even more crazy, I forced restarted and finally it accepted the code. I get the time out for repeated attempts thing is to prevent thieves from hacking into your system, but increasing it when you only made 3 tries and then again after only one try is too much.

I’m seeing a lot of criticism about AI and the impact it is having on design. Certainly AI deserves criticism, especially the unethical practices used to build it & in its use. However, it is just a tool. Like all tools before, it can be used in good & bad ways. It is not going to go away.

There is nothing more frustrating than an app having different paid tiers with core features missing on professional vs organizational plans. How would people get hired into an organization lacking experience with a core feature?

Really wish Figma’s browse version history allowed jumping back a whole year at a time. Super tedious clicking “Show Older” hundred times. 😖

Welp, finally forced to degrade to iOS 26. Bought some new AirTags and they wouldn’t pair with the phone unless I updated. LiquidGlass is just garbage. Even with reduced transparency everything looks glorpy.

Trying out Ubuntu 25 desktop and I have to say they have greatly improved the UX. Migrating a system that can’t upgrade to Windows 11. If you don’t need MS-Office, it really can do everything you would need it to do.

Been working on a website redesign for our design system. It’s built with sass and uses flex. I’ve forgotten how much I hate these. Everything is split across 10 files. Just a pain figuring out where something is defined.

WTF LinkedIn, just no. If it’s not adding and pushing AI where it is not needed, then it’s adding arcade games to apps. Keeping the score private is no comfort.

Apple changed how WiFi works on the iPhone and now it just joins any open WiFi network. Even though I have it set to ask before joining networks. This is a security issue.

Headed to Prague for business trip. Flying through Dublin, so avoiding the Heathrow situation. My first time flying with Aer Lingus and they board from the back to the front.

Ok, Apple stop popping up annoying messages trying to get me to activate Siri and Apple Intelligence on iOS. And stop bothering me about not backing up. Yes, I know I’ve run out of space on my current iCloud, but I don’t care.

As mentioned previously, I tried to sign-up to watch the college football playoffs. They are only on ESPN & the only way to get ESPN is to subscribe to a cable or streaming service with "live" TV. The cheapest I could find was a deal from Sling for $114.99 for 3 months (38.33/month). This is crazy.

FYI – ESPN+ does not include being able to watch ESPN. I wanted to watch the college playoffs, but do not have cableTV any longer. So I thought signing up for ESPN+ would allow me access to ESPN as well. I was wrong. You must pay for a tv service to get ESPN.

So "tuned" in late to the Netflix live stream of the NFL Steelers vs Chiefs game. At 1st I was upset because it seemed like they were running a bunch of ads first while the game was being played. Then I realized rather than putting me into the live stream, I was starting from the 2hr pre-game show.

I bought a couple of new domains and have been working on new site designs. Looking at new CMSs as I am tired of Wordpress constantly needing to be updated. I want something that is minimal, but easily customizable. I am tempted to build my own.

So logged out of Twitter with no intent to log back in other than maybe download my data & delete my account at some point. It is devolving further into a cesspool of conspiracy theories & right wing nuts.

You are up to date.
