Issue 57 of #Zzap! magazine and the single half-page review pips the game at 88%. Isn't Robin reviewing a game he helped develop..? ๐ Sizzler indeed... www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
In 2018 amidst the resurgence of the C64 Community as a whole, a newly-energised Thalamus Digital released a remastered versuion of the game with a really spiffy intro and a few tweaks (see below). thalamusdigital.itch.io/hunters-moon...
Here is that Hunter's Moon Remastered (2018) intro in full, with its ace new SID by Matt Gray and also then into the main original theme. @roblevy101.bsky.social and @martinpiper.bsky.social also take a bow. It really is an astonishingly high quality piece of work this.
#Zzap! has an interesting relationahsip with the game. Upon release, the full price game Sizzled at 92%. A few months later as part of the Def GUide to Schmups, that was raised to 96%. Just over 2 years later the budget release was reduced to 76%..?!?!? www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
#LogLoads64 Pastfinder @davidlubar.bsky.social I salute you! o7 We are in a little "Activision Rabbit Hole" at Fripville this Autumn and here is one of my all time favourite #C64 games of FOREVER. Seriously, just, look. I mean... If you have never played this game - do it now. GET TO THE LANDER!
But why take my word for it? Why not make up your own mind with some actual gameplay and commentary..? Why not? WHY NOT?!?!! (Exactly)
And the final piece of the puzzle drops into place (so much content!)..: why not read what I had to say about the game itself a few years ago..? (Exactly)

The game is so old that it features in Issue 1 of #Zzap! magazine, getting a Sizzler at "85%" (these ratings soon changed). This is a really lovely review, by the way. The game was also featured in Issue 43 "Def Guide to Schmups" (91%). Both well worth a read. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
#AfternoonDubloons I'm sucker for my "Stabby" Class... #MW4
#Zzap! fir loved the game too and with good reason - it is a divine piece of programming and they almost gave it a full, proper double half-page review. Almost. They actually SIZZLED it at 94% and bemoaned Activision to boot. Genius. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
But don't take my word for it - take you eyeses and earses soundses and visionses for it! I did not know that Activision didn't release this over here full price. Assuming... they did "over there"?
Apologies for "reposting" my own, uh, actual posting, but needs musting, as I forgot to ask: Any of my #C64 Brothers & Sisters across the ocean blue ever play this one, BITD? It likely *was* released over here, but - I recall it not. I do not remember this even but at all, Matron. ๐ *EYES*
#LogLoads64 GeeBee Air Rally Well, I am sure almost all UK Readers will be scratching their heads at this 1987 #C64 release, as much as I am. Never. Piggin'. Yeard of it. OutRun in the air with a bit of Aliens (US) dropship landing. I mean... It wasn't awful, but, it was a bit ropey. Packaged well.
May 1988 and #Zzap! finally get around to reviewing this with 2 other mediocre games on the same double spread. I have and have played Corporation, I liked it, but it was a bit dull. Troll: nope. The Zzap! Crew were having none of this: 57%. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
#Zzap! afforded the game a standard 2 half-page review, split with an advert half-page in the middle. They also rated the game favourably as well: 87% seems high, but, perhaps I am missing something..? I best fire it up proper job. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
#LogLoads64 Bubble Bobble It is my birthday today, so I looked back through my EXCEL SPREADSHEET and noticed I hadn't actually LL64'd the original BB for the #C64. Also, because it is today, I wanted to focus on my favourite game of all time and it is: Bubble Bobble. This is a sublime conversion. โค๏ธ
And here is what I had to say about it on @commodoreblog.uk's old website (๐) now syndicated on my own SubStack - whatever that is..! logrusuk.substack.com/p/bubble-bob...
And if you want to see some proper C64 Bubble Bobbling - look no further - here she lies, in golorious colorno!

#Zzap! in October 1987 (I was 10) similarly loved the game and slapped a 97% Gold Medal on it. Which was later upped to 98% for the budget release. She's a thing of beauty! www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
Why not watch one of the United Kingdom's most prolific Gaming Content Creators play the game in COLOR!??!!
Issue 7 of proper #Zzap! and they fair LOVED the game. 97% Gold Medal. Kaboom. Rightly so. The mag gave the game a whopping 4 half-page review too. I think they also did a Dev Diary building up to the release, so... Anyway - the score is apt. This game is genius. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
#EveningStevens! It's D&D Night! And I am still working, but, check this out. "Just Us Kids" by James McMurtry came out in 2008 and this song is still totally relevant. This was the guy I saw last weekend in Bristol. If you *ever* get a chance to see him - miss it at your absolute folly. So. Good.
November '86 and #Zzap! wanted to love it, but Gary Penn was refusing to let it SIZZLE. Still 89% is a great score. Find a manual, read it and work out the controls. Then play. This is a beautifully put together game. www.zzap64.co.uk/magazine/zza...
