today marks the 13th anny of what we lovingly refer to here as "Glens Fail Day" due to this being the show where my BiL in his Heady-Topper-fueled-bravado thought it would be a good idea to try to hop the boards to get back to the floor at the start of the 2nd set.

the vault may have been flawless but the landing was not, resulting in him shattering his leg and ending up writhing on the floor as the band kicked into Rock and Roll. all reports indicated he was a complete joy for the hospital staff to deal with that night...

The best/weirdest part is that the ptbm stub for that show foreshadowed the event

the Soul Planet *after* THE Soul Planet is quite the engaging jam itself even being not nearly half as long 10.22.21 gets soupladle'd in the 3hole & but for the stabby bit this one takes OFF. full-on Fish beat clinic throughout plus another foreshadowing Sci-Fi synth punch by Page at the denouement

such a tired old nostalgia band getting by on their past successes...

obviously Merl Saunders big in that encore too I just ran out of characters. still stands as the last time (of two) that phish has performed Watchtower, both with guests (the other with DMB in 94)

that Dolly tribute show last night was really wonderful to watch. a lot of times when people pass you hear the praise knowing there is darkness underneath but not for Dolly. and that carried through not just in the words people shared but the music they made to honor her.

Golden Age gets to some very beautiful space, settling into a patient jam that never goes off the rails one way or the other. it isn't quite MLB territory but it feels akin to that vibe

here is where the "aha" moment lies that a lot of the familiar playing/tone I am hearing in this show is a direct result of the JFAT experience that unfolded once all the members of TAB dropped due to covid and Fish came in to save the day.

the Melt->EoS->Melt is wonderful. Page throwing in a TON of Sci-Fi Soldier synth washes that we didn't know were that yet, a lot of patience... this is a great journey

what do we say... Ruby ALWAYS Delivers this one in spades. multi-phased journey that flows without ever feeling stilted or forced. I think the jamcharter nailed this one

two songs in, with a nice table setter Mr C and then Energy these jams feel closer to Baker's Dozen vibe than anything beyond then. which I suppose makes sense as this tour was still in the hazy daze of covid-impacted touring and Trey hadn't done yet another rig overhaul...
