If the website was struggling to process all new enrolments then extra time NEEDS to have been added to the cutoff time. Exactly like how if you're in line to vote when voting ends, you should still get to vote. Somehow I don't think this government will make this allowance.

Check this...the Enrol to Vote website is struggling due to high demand. You have just over an hour left whānau! Good luck 👍✅️✅️✅️

Human waste at one end of my commute, human waste at the other end of my commute

Whereas I entered the station from a different direction where we had to step around human poop, I wish I'd had your experience 😅 Sad my train is about to leave so I can't check out busker ☹️

I rockrolled my partner. A second later, she accidentally rockrolled herself. Five minutes later, she accidentally rickrolled herself a second time. All she wanted was to play Pump Up The Jam.

I just watched the "Cat in the Hat" trailer and there's a bit where the Cat says "If we don't find [the McGuffin], the universe will be destroyed forever!" Am I misremembering or was the End of the World not a big theme in the works of Dr. Seuss? :( Hollywood gonna Hollywood I guess

I'm going to print out my EasyVote card at the earliest opportunity and stick it in my wallet and handcuff the wallet to my wrist until after the election

Dan Slevin@danslevin.funeralsandsnakes.net

Thanks to the arrival of my EasyVote email, I’ve remembered that I set up my RealMe profile with my decades-old Gmail account. So I’d better not ditch that in a huff like I did with all my other Google services.

I made the mistake of looking at Facebook comments and the problem with this government's tactic of voter suppression by surgical inconvenience is that it has enough plausible deniability that boomers don't really understand what the problem is 😖

I denounce: * Harry Potter LEGO * Non-Transforming Transformers * The half-arsed revival of Micro Machines * The Playmobil Movie * Going back to LEGO, I also denounce when they take an important component of a premium quality set and make it only available in a separate temporary promotional set

Getting out ahead of it just in case: I denounce the Muslim brotherhood

This one time I saw that a bridge was out and I thought to myself "damn it there is literally no defensive action that I can take" so I drove into it and I died I also once drove off a cargo plane by mistake :(

is one of those situations “DAMMIT i’m in a michael bay movie again”

Blue-greens are people who treasure the environment of the Lady Norwood Rose Garden and Begonia House specifically.

Bruce Buckman@brucebuckman.bsky.social

Blue-greens are just people who like nice murals of native birds in the foyers of private hospitals.

Thinking about the difference between Opportunity and Green. Opp: "We don't really stand for anything, we'll back down without hesitation, all we care about is getting the 'kingmaker' position" Green: "Other parties won't support our bold ambitious but we DGAF, these are all the things we want 💅"

First year university hall residence I was voted "most likely to appear on the 6 o'clock news". I have no idea what that meant. My entire personality at the time was "depressed".

Our high school banned these surveys because emotions, so someone did their own, and IF I RECALL I was voted most likely to be a serial killer, which is ironic since I'm the nicest guy ever and some of my classmates are III%ers.

What I love is that they illustrate this story with a picture of Nick Mowbray, director of Zuru, a company that has widely known moral failings. I don't recognise the other people in this image but I expect I wouldn't have to dig much.

Matt@kiwimatt.bsky.social

lmao. fuck off you parasites

This isn't even going into Nick Mowbray's personal moral failings. Just considering the moral failings of his "wealth generation", which is a weird euphemism for "wealth hoarding". You know who the bad guys were in the Lord of the Rings stories? The horde generators.

The confusing thing about Quilae Wong is that I disagree with her but also think she's a genuinely nice person. This is confusing because it's so unfamiliar. Everyone I disagree with in the current government is irredeemably loathsome. I've got used to hating everyone I disagree with politically.

(The Opportunity Party itself, on the other hand, I do not trust in the slightest, I think they're using the likability of Wong to make their party seem more palatable, but this doesn't change the fact that Wong herself seems like a nice person)

I am adding "Public Execution" to "HBO Harry Potter Series" in my list of things I am likely to unfollow and/or block people for if I find out they are watching these things.

I'm largely ignoring AI bros, but what I do find interesting here is a neurotypical guy faking what he perceives as a neurodivergent hobby out of "social obligation". This brings me great joy. How does it feel to have the tables turned, guy-who-probably-knows-how-to-make-small-talk-at-parties?

Matt Binder@mattbinder.bsky.social

can’t think of a better example of AI being mostly a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist also it can’t help when this is your user base

Does anyone know if it's possible to track down who is paying for a specific billboard? This billboard on Murphy Street outside Thorndon New World exactly matches National Party content but has no authorisation statement and no owner other than "concerned citizens". I would like to do Research.

The orcas are going after Jeff Bezos. The sea itself is going after Jeff Bezos. It's all on.

Moby Dick@mobydickatsea.bsky.social

for ever and for ever, to the crack of doom, the sea will insult and murder him, and pulverize the stateliest, stiffest frigate he can make
