The fact that agents got kinda okay at coding and it immediately tore through all software engineering kinda gives away the game of the structural rot behind software as a professional practice

My friend explained to me how most games are designed like Opiates where the point is to escape reality and blunt the pain of day to day life. Built around convenience, addiction etc. She then said she wishes games should be Hallucinogens that would expand her reality, make her think. Legend

If they renamed Dundas station to TMU station, why didn't they rename Dundas West station to TMU West station?

A decade ago a car hit me and sped off. I have an osteoarthritic knee now. Biking these lanes not knowing whether it'll be the last time and knowing these removals make another hit-and-run more likely has been...hard. www.thestar.com/news/gta/for...

*It'll be a little hard to put this entity in jail, but these are serious computer crimes including wire fraud, identity fraud, unauthorized access, malware distribution, and supply‑chain tampering laws. *A human blackhat could do 20 years for that in the USA

I realise the details are unlikely to be forthcoming, but I'd like to to know more about why OpenAI and Anthropic are unable to set up secure test environments without internet connectivity. It doesn't appear a particularly difficult task.

the more I age, the more I detest software at a visceral, personal level. Every pointless deprecation, bullshit API change, vibe-coded regression, violation of semver, godawful UI change in tooling I use, etc. that I have to put up with is time not spent enjoying my brief time on Earth

Maybe if they kept calling it “carbonic acid gas” people would be taking this shit more seriously

I am not made for Capitalism. Every relationship I have feels cheapened and dehumanized by the exchange of money. Everything becomes a hollow experience because it is meted out by an arbitrary quantification of worth. It makes me feel as if the only true emotion or relational value is exploitation

You used to be able to google the time of the sunset, and Google would give you the exact time right on top every single time. Thankfully, with artificial intelligence, you can now ask Google what time the sun will set and it will conveniently tell you "I don't know."

It’s kinda funny that for LLMs “token” was chosen kinda arbitrarily as the noun for mapping text to LLM weights, but now that everything in dev world is about “spending” as many tokens as possible, the etymology kinda came full circle

Throwing this to the void because idk: whenever my nzbget service is running/downloading something on my arch Linux server, it will randomly completely hang and need to be power cycled to recover. I’ve just been stopping the service and only using it when I need, but not sure what to debug next.

Idk how I could record it, but there’s a pay phone at Yonge station with a broken dial tone that sounds like the hardest bass rhythm of all time, every time I’m there I pick it up and listen while waiting for the train.
