The Problem With Leverage democracybesieged.wordpress.com/2026/10/27/t...
A) Wind turbines. B) All of them, in part because they've been able to rein in otherwise costly generation costs and infrastructure. C) Some countries generate enough that people occasionally do not get a bill, in fact.
Trump: "Name me one country that has lots of windmills that is solveant. There are none."
"The official language of Ohio is now Pannonian dialect of Latin too, by the way."
Trump: "We will be officially BANNING the term, 'AI/Artificial Intelligence,' in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"
Yeah, I saw that interview. He might as well have just said, "Here, you can have this judgment. I don't want it", which is just a dumb thing strategically, but Stelco did it.
Mélanie Joly: "What was interesting in his interview is that [Cleveland-Cliffs CEO] mentioned that Stelco was a competitor that he wanted to get rid of... he's proving our case."
Finally, Scott Jennings gets consequences for being an unmitigated dick.
Big trouble here for Scott Jennings. A $72.5 million defamation lawsuit is no small matter, especially when the allegations involve a manipulated video and a fabricated quote. This could get very ugly for him. It’s about time this sort of deception has consequences.
.....but Husted spent all day at the gym so he would not disappoint, or so he said. *melodious strains of "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John in background*
Trump: "So I'm studying him. And I made the mistake of saying that I started off by studying his ass. I just wantasink. And then I looked at his feet & they were massive. I made the mistake of studying his anatomy. Maybe I should do that with Ken Paxton, but I'm not sure your body is gonna qualify."
The "no" votes need to be on the record. Success would be a bonus, but the point is to force the GOP to go on record
Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…
Jesus Christ, what an asshole. (I know, again....still.....)
Trump's affordability message: "You could even come to Mar-a-Lago. You'll be my guest. The problem is that for $5,000 the most you'll be able to buy is a hamburger and maybe a small dessert. I'm not even sure you could buy that! No, don't go there. It's not a good place if you're price conscious."
Vance was not even a thought in his mother's drug-addled mind during either major oil crisis, so no, he doesn't remember these things, if that's what he means.
🇺🇸🫠 JD Vance: I remember going to a gas station and waiting in line for hours for gasoline that, of course, had shot up in price because of a region of the world made up of countries whose names I couldn't even pronounce.
What is the average centre / left position in Israel, out of curiosity?
81% of Israelis think today's election is of particular importance or is the most important in Israel's history. 94% of left/centre voters, 79% of right voters and 66% of Arab voters feel this way. Explains high turnout. (Israeli Society Index. The Jewish People Policy Institute, September 2026)
Somehow, I don't think Bibi goes quietly. If he did, that would be...interesting
Voter participation by noon today in Israel was already at its highest level since 1973. This election is on track to have the highest voter participation in Israel's history. Not a great sign for Netanyahu. People don't typically vote at record levels when they're happy with how things are going.
Holy jesus. He's going to be cheesed when he finds out where a great deal of high mathematics came from, not to mention astronomy and the only reason we know as much as we do about Greek and Roman literature.....and more yet....
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
....and for many of them, not being there would probably marginally help them, but they seem to be of the opinion that they are to go down with everyone and everything.
The president is demanding that Republican Senate candidates stand next to him at rallies where he talks about asses (mostly one man’s) and brags about making gas prices higher. If his candidates lose, it’s because the elections were rigged.
The far-right ecosystem is a multinational, connected effort. EVERYONE'S elections should matter to you on some level now.
I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.
How does this guy keep getting cooler?
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...
"Cheesecake Factory indeed. It's more like a Benihana but without the class."
Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"
