Generating SDKs at @heyapi.dev 👨‍🚀

Found a bug in TypeScript that blocks this experience, but once it's fixed the sky's the limit!

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Instant TypeScript SDK from your @fastapi.tiangolo.com app without codegen or OpenAPI. And you get to keep the generics.

Shout out to @colinhacks.com for the idea. We can take this one step further, I'll share another update later.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

SDK inference from OpenAPI files has been achieved internally. Finally, a full no codegen SDK generator.

Thank you Fern 🌿

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Thank you Fern for mentioning Hey API in your blog post on generating idiomatic TypeScript clients from OpenAPI!

I love surfing (the S-curves) 🏄‍♂️

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Hey API is in the Dos Comas Club! For the first time, it’s been downloaded a million times in a single day. Thank you to all the humans and agents using it! 🤖

Every generator makes you declare pagination somewhere. But if the API already describes itself, you shouldn't have to do it again.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Paginated @tanstack.com Query, with no pagination code. No configuration required.

Happy user over here

"@neon/sdk is fetch-based, zero dependencies and ESM-only. The raw client is generated from our OpenAPI spec with Hey API, so every endpoint maps one-to-one to a TypeScript function." Thank you for betting on Hey API, @neon.com!

I can't praise @skk.moe's contributions enough!

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Welcome @skk.moe to the Hall of Fame! He's the mastermind behind the major performance improvements to our generators, including making them up to 40× faster for large specifications. Thanks for making Hey API faster for everyone! 🚀🚀🚀

GitHub stars never paid the bills, but they were a valuable signal and a data analytics gold mine. As of today, @github.com stars are worthless, and so is every product that relied on the Stargazers API. Ah, walled-garden ecosystems. Never change.

. @skk.moe has been absolutely on fire with optimizing our generator performance and deserves way more but it's a start

sukka@skk.moe

Thanks @heyapi.dev (HeyAPI.dev) for their generous sponsorship via GitHub Sponsors 🙏 Have been enjoying digging into the internals — made it 30x faster, then squeezed out another 15%, now another 15% performance gain is right on the horizon. Onward with Hey API🚀

Onto the next one!

Hey API@heyapi.dev

“That’s 5,000 small stars for a man, one giant milestone for Hey API.” Thank you to more than 5,000 of you who showed your support by leaving a star on our GitHub repository 🤩

If you ever wrote a large configuration file before, this one is for you 🎁

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Hey API now ships plugin type helpers. Finally, a cleaner way to split those large configuration files!

i have a fund doing early stage investments obviously my area of expertise is devtools but i like consumer as well more generally i like products for big markets trying to go after all of it let me know

The goal with every release is to raise the bar on what’s possible. It’s not easy, but the final result will be worth it.

Still using Python 3.9? Hey API will let you choose your minimum supported Python version, so generated code can take advantage of newer language features.

2026 open source playbook: a/ raise $10M+, build the brand, get acquired b/ be independent, live in poverty I don’t make the rules.

We just donated to @heyapi.dev as part of our open source donation program! It's a TypeScript toolkit that turns your OpenAPI spec into a fully typed API for frontend and backend. We use it so much that one of our engineers, Yuri Mikhin, even built the NestJS plugin for it.

We donated to @pnpm.io as part of our open source donations program. It's the default package manager for many of our frontend engineers. The team behind the 11.0 release did an amazing job of securing pnpm against supply-chain attacks, making it one of the safest package managers out there.

Turns out no feature is a small thing. Reverted in the latest release, back to the drawing board.

I feel pretty good about this approach. That can only mean one thing – it'll get shredded to pieces by user feedback.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Authoring plugin configuration has always been verbose and painful, especially for deeply nested or complex options. The next release aims to solve this with a new, declarative approach. If you're writing custom plugins on top of Hey API, we'd love your feedback!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Anthropic is not acquiring @heyapi.dev, an SDK generator that has powered no @anthropic.com SDK since the earliest days of their API.

Lubos @heyapi.dev reposted

Congratulations to Alex Rattray and Stainless on getting acquired by @anthropic.com! Hey API quite literally wouldn’t exist without you and your support over the years.

My favorite thing is comparing funding levels to various job positions. Right now, I’m about on par with a Wendy’s cashier.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Every docs page now shows the funding status. As alarming as it is, Hey API is easily one of the more sustainable projects.

Lubos @heyapi.dev reposted

It’s about 12,000,000 times every month now. And still so early.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Hey API is now being downloaded over 2,000,000 times every month! 🤯 Thank you for using Hey API to generate your SDKs, and for all your feedback and support. Instead of release notes, enjoy a release song. 🎶

Like my grandma says: “A dollar a day keeps the VCs away.”

Excited to welcome Photon to our growing fleet of sponsors! Thank you for supporting free and open source software!

This looks simple, but it’s the result of two years of research. Try any other generator, and you’ll know what I mean.

I have tried many OpenAPI -> SDK solutions, and Hey API has the best DX among them: the best client request options shape, the easiest setup, and it just works out of the box.

Always grateful for people like @alexanderkaran.bsky.social who are able to appreciate the level of effort that goes into making something that Just Works™.

Hey API@heyapi.dev

Hey API featured in @apisyouwonthate.com: “We are currently living in an era where people want us to stop caring about quality. It's really great to see the focus on quality and end-user experience in the OpenAPI space.” Thank you @alexanderkaran.bsky.social!

Typical conversation about open source: > Your source code is public, so anyone can copy it? Yes. > Does that make you uncomfortable? No.
