My name is Lucas ✌️ Currently, I spend most of my time working on futureland.tv I am into good books, champagne, open-source software, and local first tools In my spare time, I am learning Indonesian and Swift On lucas.love I collect experiments and side-projects I have worked on #introduction

A trend I have been observing from going to a lot of indie-dev meetups recently is that when I ask genuine questions about how someone build something most of the time the reply is a »I don’t know« follower by a huge grin on their face.

Another counterintuitive trend I am observing is people building less dope stuff they actually would use themselves. Instead they build more shitty products with the hope of making a lot of money.

The sentiment has shifted to disrespecting users and in some cases even grifting. The pursuit of competence is completely out of the window. Maybe some of it has always been this way but it feels like it is getting worse. My tribe is changing and I don’t want to be a part of it anymore.

I find it way less fun recently, as everyone is just demoing what they vibe-coded and the signal-to-noise ratio is drastically decreasing. I don’t feel like I am getting a lot of value out of this. It’s mostly as interesting as listening to someone talk about what they dreamt.

As mentioned in my videos I will look into music production for my next semester of learning something new. I already created some noise that could be described as music on a new toy. Where should I upload it? SoundCloud? Podcast? WWW? Here?

Stash, our read/listen-later app, is up for pre-order. Zero outside dependencies. Built to last, yours forever. $14.99 pre-order price. $19.99 when we launch in October. RSS, podcasts, and multi-language support coming as free updates.

The video challenge has been over for a week now, and I didn't really have the time to be properly creative since then. I notice how it makes me sad. I kind of always knew how creating something made me feel, but I never noticed how important it actually is for my well-being until now.

Since the video challenge is over I feel like I am having so much free time. At first I felt relieved, but now a couple days later I am craving a new creative outlet that isn't related to building software.

Tomorrow will be day 99 of my 1 video for 100 consecutive days challenge. I was thinking of doing an AMA or something like that. So if you ever wanted to ask me something, now would be a good time. Will try to answer as much as possible in the video tomorrow.

Using the fairly new (iOS 26) `BGContinuedProcessingTask` so generating audio can continue in the background while you do anything else.

Good text-to-speech models are rented, someone else's server, a fee per word, and a liability if it disappears. For Stash we converted one to Core ML so it runs entirely on your iPhone, in the background, with no download and no internet. 130 MB, unlimited audio, zero cost. Hoe we build to last:

I just released a new version of Stash via TestFlight and invited more people to it. This version includes a new custom on-device TTS model, which runs on the iPhone's neural engine at 3x the speed compared to the previous model.

Talking about the first round of user feedback for #Stash and why we decided to convert a TTS model to Core ML so we can run it in the background on the neural engine. lucas.love/100/096

The model has better voice quality and makes it possible to support multilingual support in the future. Downloading the model from a server was against our »Built to last« philosophy, so the model (~140 MB) is now built into the app.

All the footage I recorded this morning is completely corrupted and useless. I thought I was clever and tried something new, by using AirPlay to see the active iPhone recording on my MacBook’s screen. Now the audio and video are completely out of sync in a non-constant way.

Looking for someone with an iPhone 11 or iPhone SE (2nd generation or later) to test Stash, the new app we are building. We want to make sure we properly support all devices that can run iOS 26.

If you want to play around with it, lmk. We already have a TestFlight.

Made a video about the new offline-first read/listen later app my homie Matt and I are building. I have been using it over the last couple of weeks and have been enjoying the idea of having a queue of articles I can listen to. lucas.love/100/090

I feel bad for the shallowness of my videos. I struggle with creating depth on a daily cadence. I hope I will have the time for deeper explorations once my 100-video challenge is over.

I would love to help you, but if you act like a meat proxy and just send me your agent's outputs and paste everything I tell you back into it, I am obviously not going to help you in the future.
