"...we’re delivering and the fantasy we’re fulfilling." "We’ve tried to be more flexible about who we’re willing to take pitches from. Good ideas can come from a lot of different places. You don’t have to necessarily be a Top Five publisher to make a great Star Wars game." Of course.
Today is the actual anniversary. 🤭 So happy anniversary to the very last building/management game released by LucasArts.
Thrillville: Off the Rails (Frontier Developments/LucasArts) was released 19 years ago today. Frontier had developed RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 three years earlier—and would release Planet Coaster nine years later.

Star Wars Galaxies Restoration "We're teasing one of our major features for our next upcoming update, which includes vastly improved in-game graphics to help the galaxy look better than it ever has before. A familiar galaxy in a new light."
I love this asteroid field so much 🤷♂️ Michael McCormick, Project Leader of Super Bombad Racing: "The composer, Peter McConnell, who has worked extensively with John Williams music over the years in many Star Wars games, is also a big fan of cartoon music (e.g., Bugs Bunny)." 🔽
"We talked about what “super-deformed Star Wars music” would sound like, and that is what he delivered. Each track, the main menu, and even the credits have a uniquely composed piece of music based on music from the SW films." That's it, I just wanted to highlight the quality of Peter's work. 🤗
There are also several variations on the Star Wars theme.
... Star Wars games (TIE Fighter, Racer) and funny adventure games (Monkey Island 2, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle). Super Bombad Racing combines these two aspects of his work to create what he called on his website “Looney Tunes-style renditions of Williams' themes.” And it's brilliant:
If a funny remix of the Imperial March on the title screen isn't enough for you, how about “Duel of the Fates” in carnival mode?
A great video showing the evolution of podracing in video games. P.S.: The concept art shown from Racer (1999) are by Peter Chan.
