Excited to share the first publication from my PhD project: how does low-dose LSD (10 and 20 µg) affect visual perception🧠 In 30 healthy volunteers (within-subject crossover) we assessed visual perception using visual contrast surround suppression (psychophysics), and subjectively (questionnaires).

LSD did not affect contrast surround suppression at either dose, unlike psilocybin, which increased similar spatial context illusions in previous research (albeit at higher doses).

In contrast, LSD did affect subjective visual perception across multiple dimensions, even at the 10-µg microdose. Interestingly, subjective changes did not relate to individual differences in surround suppression, suggesting the two effects arise through distinct mechanisms. @psterzer.bsky.social
