Pre:Invent launch! Amazon ECS Gateway adds a new network platform layer in front of ECS clusters to centrally manage access to various clusters. It even supports many-to-many gateways and clusters. I’ve always preferred ECS over K8S, and this is one more reason. buff.ly/wJb8srm

Oooh boy! A completely new Lambda primitive? Lambda Web Functions are full Node servers listening on a port, but with a serverless billing model. I hope I can kill some Fargate containers with this! buff.ly/KFQ8vo7
I'm calling it - Pre:Invent Season 2026 is open for business! Last week saw 73 new releases, compared to 33-50 in the weeks before. To help you keep track I've created the curated Pre:Invent '26 feed. Find it at buff.ly/4EMQ3Xj and subscribe to RSS and email notifications!
Stop what you’re doing and check this out! Enhanced AWS Event Buses support FIFO, JSONata, Avro, Protobuf, cross-account messaging! Holy broccoli, this is awesome! buff.ly/awEh4jD
All fundamental AWS event-driven serverless services now support 1 MB payloads! First SQS in August 2025, Async Lambda in October, EventBridge in January, and now SNS. That's one essential design limitation gone! buff.ly/6umhfHo
Another big QoL improvement you can now send APIGW logs to custom destinations and with much larger log entry size! Is this the start of pre:Invent? buff.ly/8jS1WEw
For everyone who ever wished their Lambda Functions could run for more than 15 minutes… now you can, on Lambda Managed Instances, up to a whopping 90 minutes! buff.ly/c9wQGfB
This is such a weird announcement. There are no links in the article, no reference to the source or what it actually is. As far as I know there is no CloudFront feature called DIT - instead it’s a solution you must deploy (and maintain!) yourself. buff.ly/PovNvSL
I completely revamped the AWS News sponsors page! It's now got live stats, detailed sponsor package information and a form to sign up as a sponsor. I'm super happy how this turned out 🥰 See it at buff.ly/6dIBEo5
They did it! Aurora DSQL now supports foreign key constraints. Lack of FKs was the biggest gap between DSQL and ‘normal’ Postgres, blocking many migrations. This change makes DSQL much more viable for brownfield environments. aws-news.com/article/2026...

AWS CloudShell now includes a built-in visual file editor accessible via an 'edit' command, eliminating the need for terminal editors or file downloads.
Nice! Node.js 26 and Python 3.15 are now available as preview runtimes on AWS Lambda, allowing us to test releases ahead of time. aws-news.com/article/2026...
This is such an obvious feature, it’s surprising they didn’t build this years ago! Amazon EC2 introduces application status checks. aws-news.com/article/2026...
You can finally adjust the network bandwidth for Lambda functions! Bandwidth scales with memory, with 625 Mbps at 2GB up to 3000 Mbps at 10 GB. Only works for non-VPC functions though. aws-news.com/article/2026...
This is great! DynamoDB now has full native support for vector search. I’m still holding out for vector support in DSQL though, so I can finally drop Aurora Serverless. aws-news.com/article/2026...
Claude Opus 5 is now on AWS Bedrock! It promises almost the same capabilities as Fable 5, but at half the price. And big plus: contrary to Fable, Opus supports Zero-Data Retention! aws-news.com/article/2026...
This is a good addition to the free tier. Hope they add free sandbox support to more workshops soon. AWS Builder Center Now Offers Free Sandbox Environments aws-news.com/article/2026...
I'm thrilled to welcome Retool as a Gold sponsor on the AWS News Feed! Go check out their AI Governance report, which found 93% of security leaders worry about vibe-coded tools in production, and only 8% call their governance strong. Link: buff.ly/IySnqYt

New AWS service deprecations, including Bedrock Agents Classic, Cognito Sync, Kendra, Q Business, and Simple AD 👇 aws-news.com/article/2026...
Last week I hosted a workshop session "build your first AI agent" at PostNL Engineering Day 2026. The workshop materials are now freely available on GitHub 👇 buff.ly/0kW7uX0 🐙 In a few steps you will learn how to add memory, tools, and an agentic loop. Feedback is welcome!
HUGE launch! AWS Lambda MicroVMs - Isolated virtual machines which can run tasks or sessions up to 8 hours. It’s like Lambda and Fargate had a baby, and it inherited the best genes of both. aws-news.com/article/2026...
"Grok 4.3 from xAI now available in Amazon Bedrock" aws-news.com/article/2026...
Claude's new model, Fable 5, is now on Amazon Bedrock. It is the same model as Mythos, but with additional safeguards in place. It's twice as expensive as Opus, at $10.00 per million input tokens and $50.00 per million output tokens 💸 aws-news.com/article/2026...
Multi-Region Cognito User Pools! This has been a major request for the longest time. Also glad to see continued investment in Cognito - it’s a pretty cool service. aws-news.com/article/2026...
They’re here! GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4 are now available on Bedrock. Pricing isn’t live yet, but it will probably be cheaper than GitHub pricing 😬 aws-news.com/article/2026...
OpenSearch Serverless is finally truly Serverless, as opposed to its previous minimal commitment of $700/month! Very nice and long overdue improvement ❤️ aws-news.com/article/2026...

AWS now offers Claude Opus 4.8, Anthropic's most capable model, available through Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS for advanced coding, autonomous tasks, and knowledge work applications.
Opus 4.8 has been released on AWS Bedrock, less than 6 weeks after the 4.7 release. Let’s hope this release is more willing to do work than the last one 😬 aws-news.com/article/2026...
A long overdue update! AWS finally updates their SDKs retry policy from “insane” to “sensible”, including shorter retry delays for transient errors and limited retry attempts. aws-news.com/article/2026...
Anthropic has signed a deal to use "all of the compute capacity at [the SpaceX / xAI] Colossus 1 data center" which allows them to immediately raise session limits by 2x. Awesome news for Claude Code users, who have been in a serious compute crunch the past few weeks. buff.ly/86JDZSB
Woah some of the oldest AWS limits have been broken - IAM now supports 10k roles, 8k character trust policies, and 10k customer managed policies per account! aws-news.com/article/2026...
