This has left me really unhappy. I just don't see how it's a fair price for a soldering job only-slighty-too-tricky for an amateur to do himself. Two connections and a £0.50 component.

I have a guitar pedal with a broken DC jack, which I left with a local shop to have this one component replaced, along with £36 deposit. They just phoned to say the total cost is £75. Absolute scam.

DREAM WARRIOR Thrilled to have painted this homage to the late John Blanche for Secret Passages forthcoming tribute. #JohnBlanche #SecretPassages #Art #Artsky #Fantasy

Being stuck in a call queue, with infuriatingly crap music, 30 second loops of a voice telling you to hold, and nearly as frequent inducements to use a website instead (I would do that if it would help) should be considered hostile architecture. It is very clearly designed to get you to hang up.

Hen's teeth rare dentist appointment missed because the police had closed the road and connecting dual carriageway. Can't wait to spend weeks with holes in to my jaw because there's no availability.

The scene where Ziller expresses his deeply-felt sense of futility (a composer in a world of god-like AI) only to be gently chided by said AI, and then meet a dying man still filled with wonder...is beautiful. End of Bladerunner type emotional defence of life. I am struck by this book's maturity.

There's some fuss about the forthcoming Eggers Romeo & Juliet apparently being filmed in "olde English". I'm going to assume everyone means Shakespearian English (i.e. early Modern English) and not the language of the Saxons etc (i.e. Old English).

Check it out!

Trapped on Schrödinger’s Moon still ticking over on Backerkit, £15 away from £10k, the figure my dad is officially ‘impressed’ by. Expecting some test prints of the 2027 calendar this week, which will only be available on BK (& mebz a few at Dragonmeet) #mothership www.backerkit.com/c/projects/a...

Seated with cheap fast food, In the court of a faded shopping centre, Full now of empty units, And soon to be demolished, My teenage self seated not far from me, Immersed in comics and ideas and cheap fast food, Cannot see the middle aged man or shutters long battened, But tastes the same burger.

As a kind of crustpunk-adjacent character, I have often found myself buying surplus clothing for it's comparative durability and economy. So I can say first hand that this is on the money.

nice military surplus store you got there. whys the only solider cutouts you got in the window ww2 Italians and germans. what do u mean by that

I am in no way against using whatever means are available to make art. Having said that, I cannot help but think the incentivisation behind certain design practices that are predominantly reiterative has lead to an industry of visual reproduction.

Ah, the good old days when Concept art was done in colour markers.

My new module Trapped On Schrödinger’s Moon is top spot front page above the fold mega featured over on Backerkit.com right now, oooh fancy. Last time I was front page anything it was all a terrible misunderstanding and besides I did the community service so

It is 1996. I am reading Iain M. Bank's EXCESSION, and seeing for the first time a desirable vision of the future. It is 2026. I am reading Iain M. Bank's EXCESSION, and feeling that vision is more distant than ever.

Some tasty WIP on this project.

One week till the launch of Trapped On Schrödinger's Moon! Accompanying the zine is Rainforest AI's World of Tomorrow 2027 wall calendar! Lots of 70s/80s vibes (Chris Foss, Mœbius). It's our corporate sponsor's vision of the future (doesn't look good): www.backerkit.com/c/projects/a... #mothership

I was part of the original team that developed the concept for the #Creepshow game. I think things went in a different direction afterwards, but here are some bits and pieces I liked from that period. #gamedev #horror

Finished another revisit of Bank's The Player of Games. My fave scene is where one character is blackmailing the protagonist, and must first explain the concept of blackmail to him because life in a utopia means it's completely alien. Superb book.

Whenever someone makes the case for *obligation* toward historical accuracy, they tend to actually be describing a very particular case for cultural sensitivity. And this tends to be remarkably ironic.

The book is a solid primer on AF thought, and presented in a way that won't scare middle aged men who are being motivated away from the typical podcast milieu by its failings over Trump. I rather suspect that's the goal beneath the "how to talk to young people" gambit. Good stuff.
