Anything But Warhammer

I don't always pimp for crowdfunding projects, but when I do they are the cutest war-game miniatures with a very solid game underpinning them. It is the opposite of Grimdark. I give you: Planet Shark www.kickstarter.com/projects/daf... #grimshork #miniaturepainting #3dprinting

Quote your art with fire on #minipainting #miniatures #conquest

Printing today: rocks. They have a sort of cooled lava/coral-like appearance that I liked. Should paint up fun. #3dprinting #miniatureterrain #illgottengames

Finished the Prime Librarian for Shadows of Brimstone. I decided that the ancient robotic entity should look a little worse for wear. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone #rust

Every time I try to paint eyebrows on a mini:

A zombie for Tanares Adventures. Not my awesomest coloring ever, but it works. That said, let’s talk about the Vallejo “ultra matte” varnish on this guy. It’s f#ing shiny.

It rained all weekend, so I couldn’t work on our new deck, so I hunkered down indoors and painted like a fiend. Finished 30 models. Here are the most dramatic: Souls of the Damned for Shadows of Brimstone. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone

It’s like building miniature terrain- only very, very heavy. Also, my wife is helping, which she never does with game terrain. #hobbynight #DIY #miniaturepainting

A pair of Armored War dogs for Shadows of Brimstone. Needed them for my regular game tomorrow, so a bit of a rush job, but pretty reasonable. #shadowsofbrimstone #miniaturepainting

4 HollowMen and a Heckler walk into to a bar. Finished up some Infinity minis. Painting as much as I can with crazy work hours and major home renovations taking up most of my time! #infinitythegame #miniaturepainting #reallifeintrudes

My painting table looks like Studio 54 circa 1977. Disco balls everywhere as I paint door prizes for GRiT 2026 (Grand Rapids Infinity Tournament). #miniaturepainting #infinitythegame

Working on some floating crates for Carnevale while my wife finishes crocheting her last sweater of the winter - and none too soon! #carnevale #miniaturepainting #ttcombat

This is probably how my wife feels at a game store. Time has stopped. The sun hangs motionless in the sky. Only endless flats of what appear to be variations on the same floral theme.

All those minis I paint need terrain, right? Watching Monarch with my wife and doing up some fantastic paper sci-fi buildings by David Graffen Models. #miniatures #infinitythegame

“Fair Warning is Van Halen’s best album” might not be the musical hill I’d *choose* to die on, but I’d definitely plant a flag there.

A fine Sunday morning. Painting Carnevale miniatures and watching the extended cut of Stargate. #miniaturepainting #carnevale #ttcombat

I have been madly painting Carnevale minis for a friend and I to play, but I’m not close to done so no pics. That said, here’s what just showed up on my doorstep. #miniaturepainting #pathsunknown

A new one for me: Miniatures for Konflikt ‘47 about to get some love. #miniaturepainting #konflikt47 #warlordgames

Finished some Reapers for Tanares Adventures/Expeditions. Painting them to their card makes them easier to find in the sea of minis for this game. #miniaturepainting #tanaresadventures

Day 2 of Operation Epstein Fury.

So much wall. I did a base gray and then randomly colored various stones with 2 shades of tan, dry brushed, then washed. Then dry brushed light gray. Been working on these for awhile. They may even be… above average. For Tanares Adventures. #miniaturepainting #tanaresadventures

I have put off painting my Conquistador heroes for, um… 2 years now. Finally getting some paint on them and their bases. In the background: a Spectre for Tanares Adventures that’s only waited a year for some paint. Stay tuned to see if I actually finish them! #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone

Getting a lot of miniatures finished tonight due largely to the sleep inducing Super Bowl game. Three Securitate and a Puppetactica company for my Infinity Nomads. Celebrate the averageness. #MinaiturePainting #infinitythegame

Today: some very average Steelheart Djinn for Conquest. Revel in the overly enthusiastic application of Vallejo Templar White. Right after I finished these, I changed my list an don’t need them for my next game. Of course. #miniaturepainting #conquestlastargumentofkings

Alex from BoardGameCo speaks out on ICE murder of Alex Pretti. We need more of this. youtu.be/KdnzlbWrv5I?...

No painting today. I’m running an Infinity tournament at Far Harbor Games. Huge crowd today for Infinity and a “Learn to Play” Combat Patrol event even though air temps outside are around-5F. #infinity #grandrapids #miniaturepainting

I am racing to reduce my Pile O’Shame before the end of the year… and my wife hands me these Temple Dogs off the Amazon truck today. Sigh… Better get cracking. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone #pileofshame

I am racing to finish a regiment of Ghols for a Conquest tournament Saturday so I do t have any finished work to show, so here is a picture of our Great Dane wearing his blankie. #greatdanes #miniaturepainting #conquest

Painting in front of tacky Christmas romance movies. I promised my wife we’d enjoy the Christmas tree, so I brought my painting upstairs. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone #itsawonderfullife

The trick is to put on a holiday rom-com that even the writers slept through, then you can paint away without worrying you’re going to miss anything. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone #conquest

The Chronic WHAT cles of Narnia

The hand both painteth and addeth to the pile of shame. The pile was down 75 for the year, then I bought 27 more. Still - Escape From Stalingrad Z for $50 is a steal... and zombies! I’m thinking I’ll use contrast paints for these. #miniaturepainting #rayboxgames #escapefromstalingradz

I know these guys are going to look great when done, but OMG! All that gold filigree is killing me. Check out the guy on the left. No. I havent been drinking. Might need a new brush though. SMH. #conquest #miniaturepainting #workinprogress

Another batch of “little plastic guys” as my wife calls them. This time, Efreet Flamecasters for Conquest. I tend to paint minis following the box art because I buy minis as much for the color schemes as the sculpts. Enjoy some flame flingin’ djinn. #miniaturepainting #conquestlastargumentofkings

I’m going to start a new thing: when I finish a group of minis, I’m going to post a pic of them with the box art. Today: Skin Crawlers from Shadows of Brimstone. #miniaturepainting #shadowsofbrimstone

Plastic is fine, but there’s nothing like a miniature that weighs as much as a pipe wrench. The first of my Black Friday purchases to arrive: a Tunguska Zalamandra for my Nomads. Big chonky boy. #miniaturepainting #infinity
