Talk about trouble for the party in power. Republicans are keeping us from our (literal) treats!
A company designs a product. While using that product for its intended use, a felony is committed. Why is this not prosecutable? If any of us went out and hacked a government website to get voter data, we would be (rightly) prosecuted.
A TX HS had to cancel a production of Little Shop of Horrors - a 34 year-old musical based on a 66 year-old movie a girl was cast as the opposite gender. A practice going back to Ancient Greece all because MAGA are terrified their kids will learn that trans people exist.
share.google/X6bG68cpuYsq... MacKenzie Scott donated $7B last year which alone accounted for one-third of America's $19.2 billion in megagifts last year.
Annie Andrews made a transphobic statement in her rush to assure everyone she doesn’t support trans girls in sports calling trans girls ‘biological males.’ People have used trans people’s legitimate anger over this as a cudgel - you must vote for Andrews or the fascist win. But that’s not the issue.
Hey all - Tennessee is looking into whether it’s justifiable to kill someone if they’re transgender.
3 days after Trump called Andrews a ‘tranny’ she posted an ad calling trans women biological men. This is why Reps keep using anti-trans rhetoric to attack Dems. Because Dems fall for it. Every. Single. Time. This does nothing for her campaign but signals she’ll throw trans people under the bus.
As SCOTUS begins its new term, I can’t get over the fact that they decide sometime >100 shadow docket cases, which are handed down quickly, often within a week. But the main docket handles far fewer, around 50-60 and we have to wait until June. The delay seems increasingly farcical and out of touch.
11,982 - that’s the number of books banned in the latest school year, most from TX (>8100) and FL (~3,000), most fiction, and the vast majority of which were about race, racism, and LGBTQ issues. pen.org/report/book-...
You know what I’m tired of? American exceptionalism. I’m tired of being the only country w/o universal healthcare. The only country that kills its prisoners, or has a globe-spanning military. I don’t care about US global dominance. I’m tired of our need for dominance used as an excuse for atrocities
This is tragic and way too common. Humans move into someone else’s home, initially sharing resources, but then euthanize her and her extended family when their fair share isn’t enough.
Singapore has the right idea about AI. Use it to spread misinfo, go to jail. Good. We should do that here. Dude posted an AI image of a crocodile in a popular reservoir, which caused the reservoir to be shut down while authorities searched for it.
From Oct 2015 - Oct 2019 I drove 1,000s of hrs of DoorDash up to 40-50 hrs per week. I watched pay go from $12/delivery to $5, then guaranteed $5 with DD paying $1 and stealing tips. When I was at my lowest about to break SF settled with DoorDash and I got $17,000! These settlements are a big deal.
DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.
Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have prevented the extradition of people for abortion and gender affirming care. That is, if someone in CA provides or travels to CA to access either kind of care, Newsom thinks it’s cool to extradite them to another state for prosecution.
Imagine banning ads for a play adapted from Virginia Woolf’s lectures about women in society. Meta and other tech companies are pushing a regressive global agenda.
Google wants everyone to know their AI model is also dangerous and a rebel bad boy. No! Stop laughing. It’s just as dangerous as ChatGPT and Claude.
