The interesting thing about getting layed off with a reasonable-ish severance, is you get some time to actually focus on things you find interesting. I've spent almost two decades doing on-prem infra work. Translating that to cloud really does require learning a whole new vocabulary.

Being unemployed has given me time, and motivation, to get some of those professional certs I'd been pushing off. Initial Google Cloud one secured, now to get its AWS equivalent.

Y’all, turns out the 9:15 AM meeting with a hidden guest list—scheduled the morning after an ominous restructuring email—was not, in fact, about a promotion. Eight years with one company is a long run in tech. During that time I went three for four in dodging major layoffs—a pretty good average

A federal judge has set a hard deadline for compliance with his existing restraining order over USAID funding. He wants receipts of what the government has done to comply with his earlier 2/13 restraining order. (1/2)

I think its time for someone, who's qualified, to start making easy to understand slides about our rights under the 2nd, just like they have for 1st and the 4th.

PLEASE: Watch what happened in Coeur d'Alene Idaho today. This is fascism. Unmarked cops. 1A violations. RESIST.

At least my Congressman hasn't forgotten our allies.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett@doggett.house.gov

Since Putin's unjustified, brutal invasion of Ukraine 3 yrs ago, he's been responsible for the murder of thousands, the kidnapping of thousands more & the destruction of villages/towns. Meanwhile, Trump blames the murdered, not the murderer. Silent GOP colleagues must speak out or remain complicit.

To whoever runs the digital signage; you're a fucking patriot.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

How is this a "scoop"? @marisakabas.bsky.social posted it three days ago, and wrote an article two days ago. I'll go ahead and link it here since BezoPost can't be bothered to credit the reporter doing the work. The post: bsky.app/profile/mari... The article: www.thehandbasket.co/p/leland-dud...

After reading Radical Candor and discussing it with peers, it’s clear that managers who use it to justify being an asshole probably never actually read the book.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

This is absolutely disgusting. Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. Crimea is Ukraine. And there is no peace without Ukrainian sovereignty over ALL 603,628 square kilometers of their country.

Trump on Ukraine: "I think I have the power to end this war. And I think it's going very well. But today I heard, 'Oh well we weren't invited.' Well you've been there for three years. You should have ended it three years. You should've never started it. You could've made a deal"

Truly grateful that my Congressman hasn’t forgotten about our allies defending Democracy against their own would-be Tyrants overseas.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett@doggett.house.gov

With my name on the first sanctions legislation enacted against Russia for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, I view w/disgust the ongoing bilateral appeasement meetings. Trump is a sellout to Putin–abandoning efforts with European allies to isolate Russia while offering Ukrainians nothing but more pain.

This provides a strong outline and explanation for why, and how, it’s critical for Democrats to have strong consistent messaging showing the impact of Trump’s policies. Continued silence and fragmented ineffective messaging is, at this point, a criminal failure.

Seeing as it’s paywalled, I can only go off the blurb, but if this framing is accurate, it’s journalistic malpractice. Sensationalizing absurdities like this erodes trust in the profession.

Canada as the 51st state? Trump thinks it would be a boon to his legacy. But it would also be a boon to Democrats, who would gain a lot more voters. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/u...

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

Romney and McCain tried to hold a line. Mitch erased it. He’s not being ‘forced out’; he’s being swallowed by the monster he fed.

Noah Rosenblum@narosenblum.bsky.social

There is something remarkable in seeing first McCain, then Romney, now McConnell — the standard bearers for the party! — forced out like this. Incredible illustration of the transformation of the Republican Party.

House Republicans are yielding to Trump's demands for trillions in new tax breaks for his billionaire buddies. Instead of fulfilling false promises to lower prices for families, the GOP budget “wreckonciliation” is an economic plan that cuts support Americans rely on but not grocery or drug prices.

In Chamberlain’s defense, he didn’t have himself as reference. This will be a profound betrayal of the Trilateral Agreement that will have horrifying repercussions on American diplomacy for, potentially, generations. We are only as good as our word. This makes our word worthless.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett@doggett.house.gov

Since Trump declared his intent to pal with Putin, he seems set to engage in the greatest act of appeasement on Ukraine since Neville Chamberlain abandoned Czechoslovakia in 1938. The GOP will be forever stained as the party that lost Ukraine.

When I said I wanted to start a new hobby to replace my seriously unhealthy addiction to WoW in 2025, I did not want that hobby to be calling and emailing politicians demanding that they do their jobs and defend the constitution; but here we are.

Keep making the calls. Tell your Senators to vote against RFK and Gabbard. Tell them to oppose President Musk’s seizing power from Congress, and for the WH to abide the TROs.

Welp, here we are. This’ll be the case to follow.
