Dove into some forms on Nexus about it. Just came back from it angry and sad.

I'm kind of nervous to dive back into modding. Been several months since I really overhauled a game but I'm also seeing a lot of big modding projects making quick progress (the first person project zomboid mod comes to mind) and I'm terrified to learn gen AI and vibe coding have taken it all over.

In Cabin in the Woods during the dock scene they had Marty wear a shirt and just sit on the dock while everyone else swam because the actor was too jacked and they thought it wouldn't look right for the stoner character to be in better shape than the jocks

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Already working through them. All work in progress but going to add wheel input, guitar, N64, missing joystick, missing keyboard keys etc. Update soon!

if you're considering modding goldsrc/source, do not use xblah's modding tool. on top of being a subscription for the most basic parts of modding, it's also a closed source vibecoded mess by a defense contractor who's trying to worm his way into every modding community lmao

Sometimes when talking with people who are more casual in their consumption I will come off sounding really harsh about a game or film and then they feel like I attacked a thing they liked, but like, bro (this happens with my actual brother a lot lol) that's what makes it interesting to me.

sometimes you play a game that you know isn't very good but every time you remember it you think fondly of it anyways. like. you, i liked you. you tried your best, and you messed up sometimes, but damn, you were something special. i admire you even now. thank you for existing.

I'm an outlier apparently, but I really did not like the expanded cast format for Cyberpunk Edgerunners. It's out today on Netflix and still really great, especially the back 3 episodes of the season. It's closing themes are powerful, just wish the characters meant something to me. My review:

butwhytho.netCyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Review: An Emotionally Exciting, Yet Bloated ExperienceTRIGGER's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is gorgeous, action-packed, exciting, and, by the end, emotional, even with its bloated cast.

People want to blame graphical fidelity, scope expectations, etc etc etc for ballooning budgets and schedules when DA:V, a game with stylized visuals and constrained content expectations, "cost" however the fuck many hundreds of millions to come out because they made three games and shipped one

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

just literally saying whatever shit will get her out of each situation. consolidating every studio into four sequel-churning shops then talking about "courage" and "invention" and "new IP". what an utter piece of shit, truly

In the first movie I never felt like anyone was looking at the camera and winking. I'm not gonna lie, the trailer for the sequel kind of feels like they're starting to look at the camera with a wink on the horizon. Could be wrong, short trailer. And in Timo we trust. I'm just, idk thinking outloud.

I think a lot of people take The Beekeeper as almost self aware high tier schlock in the way they talk about it? Like the "Statham + Bees omg" meme of it all? But like David Ayer and company were unabashedly the most sincere about that movie and the world, and I think that's the best part about it.

I get it could probably be argued that becoming more self aware is a staple of sequels I just hope they don't overcorrect into that lane completely. It also may not matter, I'll probably love it regardless.

Please don't misunderstand, I love me some bee puns and the aforementioned meme of it all. But I do think those things land better with a sincere through line. And there may very well, uh, bee one. 🐝

They should invent the opposite of trauma, like when someone is nice to you you get flashbacks to it that make you feel an intense set of the warmth you felt back then

I can not remember for the life of me the specifics but wasn't there a story back in the day that Statham didn't want to do a movie because it was The Raid-like action? I swear it had something to do with the people who worked on the Statham joint SAFE. Anyway kinda full circle if true.

My mindset is that we find ourselves locked into certain holdovers from TTRPGs that don't always work in single player video games because one is improv based and with live players and the other is a single person session. It's a bit like how early film and TV mimicked theater to its detriment.
