Err on the side of kindness. Love more, there's no limit to how much you can give out. And in these hard, hard times don't forget to take a few minutes for yourself. It makes it easier to keep fighting the good fight.

I feel like I got out of the graphic industry at just the right time. I'm glad I retired because I did paste-up before there were even computers AND I know how to run a typesetter and stat camera. It was an art form. Quality was everything. AI today is slop. /1

I. Am. So. Happy. We noticed the grapes looked darker a couple days ago, but I was gone most the day yesterday. When we checked them today... LOOK! They extend down about 16 ft and are only a couple years old. #TimeToThinkAboutMakingJam #GrapeUpdate #LifeInTheGarden

I had not had a lot of luck growing Spiderwort, but I have found that it kind of likes to be ignored. So that's what I did and look what I have now #LifeInTheGreenhouse

Really happy with my succulent area on the porch. I understand there's a couple that are not succulent but most of them are. These are in addition to all the ones in the greenhouse. #LifeOnThePorch #succulents

The giganticus sunflowers are getting so big! The tallest one is about 5 ft tall. This is the second generation from the original seeds I bought. Those only grew to about two and a half feet tall. I can't wait to see what the third generation looks like! #FlowerPower #sunflowers

I forgot to put in the alt text. Picture is 2 Tradescantia Nanouks, sometimes called a pink wandering jew, about to put out flowers on the top. In a white pot with various other plants and planting supplies

This means so much to my son and to myself. Jeff always tried to grow grapes and we just couldn't seem to do it. But look what we have here. We have grapes. We thought they were dead, but it was only dormant. So proud of my son for making this happen 🤩 I'm very excited! #LifeInTheGarden

I had some visitors to the chicken coop. When we throw scratch for the chickens in from the top inevitably some of it ends up on the roof and since it just rained there was a little water pooling. They just stopped for lunch. They were there for a good half hour or so #BlueJays #LifeWithTheChickens

Look at all the flowers on my dwarf lemon tree! Maybe I'll get lemons this year. I don't expect them though. It's a young tree but it would be so cool if it does. #LifeInTheGarden

Been down for about a month (fibromyalgia sucks) and not able to take care of my Greenhouse like I want to. But here's a picture of one of the decorative pineapples. I have three or four of them growing as well as a couple regular pineapples! #LifeInTheGarden

Strawberries in February! It was in the 30s last week and this week look what I have. I grow strawberries in honor of my grandpa and the memory of his beds growing up. He was a somewhat dour man but he showed his affection by letting us "sneak" strawberries before dinner. #LifeInTheGarden #memories

The weather's warm so I can bring everything out of hiding from the greenhouse. But this cactus or succulent or whatever it is liked the cold at night thing. Meet my attack cactus Fido He has convinced the raccoons that it is not worth their time to try to eat the plants around him #LifeInTheGarden

Listen, I'm just an old lady who wanted to live retirement in peace. Playing in my greenhouse. Taking care of my chickens. Do these ICE raids affect me? No, no they do not. But I live in a neighborhood with many Hispanic families. I know one day ice will show up. And I will not look the other way

I just can't be on social media and not feel righteous anger about what is happening around us. I think it's important for us to see it though. Do not let it become commonplace to look the other way. We have to care because when we stop, they win. History tells us silence is complicity #FuckIce

No garden posting for me lately. Way too cold to spend any time outside. Had to put a heater in the greenhouse and stuck one in the chicken coop too. I get that cold is relative and we're in Florida, but brrrrrrrrr

I spend a great deal of my life gazing at the world through my Rose Colored Glasses. Peace and love. But I didn't know how to process today. It feels like I have to say something and there's only one thing that keeps coming to mind. F*** ICE There's no rose colored glasses that can make this okay.

Been way too cold to go outside and work in the greenhouse. So enjoy a picture of Carl the cat who firmly believes he is the one in charge. He has convinced his humans, my grandchildren, that this is true.

This was one of the church plants nobody wanted (there's actually three). When I got it, a lot of the leaves were brown and all of the flowers had died. I went through and cut out everything that was dead so it could grow some new life. So excited that it's blooming #LifeInTheGreenhouse #FlowerPower

The greenhouse bloomed for Christmas! I didn't know what color the Thanksgiving cactus was going to be but I'm so happy with it. And the amaryllis is just gorgeous #FlowerPower #LifeInTheGreenhouse

My point is we learned from the generation before us. We took the new technologies and adapted them to create our new style of layout and Design that built on that instead of stealing it. AI didn't do that. Instead it stole the work of others and manipulated it while pretending it was something new

That's why there will never be enough guardrails to make AI okay for me. Maybe I'm just an old lady that wants the old ways and is howling at the Moon. But I truly mourn for what is lost /end

There is no respect for those that know how to do it without having AI do it for them. It breaks my heart for the industry I loved so much and was literally a part of since before I was a teenager. /3

I started at a newspaper doing old time paste up, cutting color on overlays for the cameras. I learned from the lead type guys. I worked in camera rooms to make special effects that are now the click of a mouse on the computer. I don't begrudge the use of new technology. That's not my point. /4

And many times is out and out thievery from true artists that put in the hard work the AI is literally profiting from. I remember the days when quality was important, not how quickly you could get it done and if it was acceptable. /2

Peanut got a new home. Yes, the cactus has a name. This is a peanut cactus, so it's obvious where the name came from. We put together a new soil mixture for the cacti and will eventually be replanting all of them with some sand on top. #CactusLife #LifeInTheGreenhouse

Ask and you shall receive. I needed more space for plants and the neighbor was throwing out a pink desk and small plastic cart. My son reconfigured it to give me maximum shelf space and now my plants are "Pretty in Pink" #PlantLife #LifeInTheGreenhouse

I may have a plant problem. New starts (and a couple I bought) that were my project this morning. Now I just need to find a place for everything. But I don't think that's a bad problem to have! #LifeInTheGreenhouse

Some small Cactus starts we got from a friend. My son has decided we should grow all things thorny, and since he does all the heavy lifting I think I'll humor him! #LifeInTheGreenhouse

I'm going to have flowers. On every single branch, including the ones that I took the starts from. All from a small start that was gifted to me. Can't wait to see what color they will be. ##LifeInTheGreenhouse

These are a couple cactuses I picked up and actually paid full price for because they were so cool, which if you know me you know is a rarity. But I liked them, so I bought them. #LifeInTheGreenhouse

My (adult) son saw someone stomp on a bee while he was fishing out at the dock. Called him right out on it and told him bees were the reason he could eat and he needed to stop that crap. The guy actually apologized and said he'd remember that. I raised my kids right. #BeesAreLife
