Sad news! I met Frank on several occasions back in the 1980s, when I was spokesperson for Earthwatch (now Friends of rhe Earth Ireland), and a few times subsequently. An important and influential voice silenced www.irishtimes.com/obituaries/2...

Lovely to read my ‘Memorial Gardens’ #haiku sequence (from my new collection ‘Wishing Tree Note’) in situ yesterday, at the annual Francis Ledwidge day, organised by Liam O’Meara & to hear other’s poems & songs. Here’s Ledwidge’s poem ‘August’, which the choir Anúna adapted musically in the 1990s.

I had a lovely short break in South County #Tipperary this week, with my friend Eimear. One of the things we did was to check out a new sauna place in Cashel, with this view from the sauna hut! 😍They’re at www.rockviewsauna.ie, if you’re in the area and would like to pay a visit. Recommended!

If you missed my interview with Rachael Hegarty of ‘Poetry People’ on RTÉ Radio 1 last night, here’s the podcast link (I’m the first one up): dj.rte.ie/radio/radio1... If you like what you hear, you can order a copy of ‘Wishing Tree Note’ on www.maeveosullivan.com. 20% of sales go to Dublin Simon

One view of a postbox & PO in the town of Borris, and three of a postbox in the village of St. Mullins, both taken last weekend in the county of #Carlow (Ireland). #PostboxSaturday

Fewer sleeps now! My website has been updated. Some #haiku sequences from ‘Wishing Tree Note’ are in there now, along with a facility to order copies. Also other work (poems, haibun, essays & features), plus some info on my workshops and mentoring. Why don’t you swing by? www.maeveosullivan.com

I’m delighted that my foxglove-themed ‘ku has been selected as ‘Haiku of the Month’ on The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press - The Wee Sparrow Haiku Nook

This postbox sits in the #Dublin suburb of Rathmines, where I work. It’s another previously red (UK) one that was painted over. I like the little note that someone has stuck onto the aperture. ❤️ #PostboxSaturday

So I wrote a #haiku on Sunday, submitted it (and one other) to the Autumn Moon journal on Monday and got an acceptance for it today. Not a bad turnaround! I won’t share it here, but it’s about these Douglas irises, which are abundant in my (balcony) garden at the moment

We have recently catalogued two notable rare books by #BrendanBehan. 📚 The first is a limited, signed edition of The Hostage (New York: Grove Press, 1958). The second is a proof copy, printed on proofing paper, of Borstal Boy (London: Hutchinson, 1958).

Happy #PostboxSaturday from the northside of inner city #Dublin, where this one has got a new lick of paint. The location is North Great George’s Street, and you can see the distinctive and well-preserved Georgian buildings with their fan windows.

Here’s a lovely old (and now sadly defunct) postbox, which is situated in the limestone wall of a 170-year-old primary school in my neighbourhood in #Dublin. Did you know that all of the postboxes in Ireland are original UK ones, with their red colour covered over with green paint? #PostboxSaturday

Just a bit of notice that I’ll be leading a beginners’ in-person #workshop in #haiku #poetry as part of this year’s Intl Litfest in #Dublin, @ilfdublin.bsky.social. It takes place on Sun 17/5 at 3pm and will include a ginko / walk around Merrion Square. (Cost €18/16). ilfdublin.com/whats-on/fes...

I’m pleased to report that copies of my latest collection, ‘Where All Ladders Start’ (2024, Alba Publ.), are now available in Red Books in #Wexford, thanks to Wally & Nuala. While there, I also got to see the Billy Roche play ‘Of Mornington’ at the Wexford Arts Centre (love the new-ish extension) 😊
