What journalist Naomi Klein said. EVERYTHING she said. AI and Climate Change: "Who's going to be cooled? The machines, or people?" Data centres are "electricity-eating monsters". And that's just for starters. Full link below... ⬇️

Morning everyone. It's over. A crypto billionaire or three might be asking for their money back... That silly bell tolls for thee, Nigel. (And of course he blames the pathetic turnout on "staff incompetence". Reform UK know a thing or two about that.)

💔Tragic: swifts are finding their chicks dumped in skips and their nests blocked up by building work. 🚨We need an emergency system that forces police & councils to act IMMEDIATELY when nests are threatened. Sign the petition now 👇 you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

The Guardian have an excellent piece explaining how we have gone from floppy discs to hyperscale data centres. Labour may be in trouble with their belief that they are tapping into untold wealth for the country. ⬇️

Currently, free buses carry doctors, nurses and out patients to Cardiff’s Heath Hospital, the largest in Wales. Campaigners are saying where will these people park? Spare a thought for Dale Johnston who lives next to the data centre on the fringes of Newport S Wales.⬇️

Angela Rayner overturned the decision made by the local council for Brick Lane East London and now faces opposition from locals. In Cardiff, a patch of land used as a Park and Ride car park is due to be sold to developers for a data centre.⬇️

Use the extra time you have today to watch this video. Here are some takes from it: 1 The US has built a physical empire around the promise that AI will become essential. 2. Data centres have become the product and are built to make Big Tech look real. ⬇️

6. There are 5 main end users. Google, Meta, X (Twitter), Amazon and Microsoft. 7. Investors are told DCs will be extremely profitable (Governments easy target QM thinks). There is plenty more . Watch and decide for yourselves.

I agree. One of my go-to accounts for trustworthy, fact checked news. He certainly ruffles all the right people’s feathers.

Morning everyone. If America did knighthoods, one journalist has one nailed on. @aaronparnas.bsky.social is a one-man journalistic tsunami. Yesterday, he blew the lid on the Pentagon's cover-up of its destroyed Middle East airbases, the casualties, ⬇️

Democracy for Sale: what a relief someone is watching the watchers and auditing the auditors. Democracy for Sale reveal how the MoD asked Palentir how to fix its procurement rules. I suspect many ex-Tory Reformers are wishing they'd a return ticket ... "Reform lose 29th by-election on the trot. Grantham - St Wulframs Ward Cons win: Conseravtive - Lavender-487 Reform - McKinlay- 286 Independent Reid - 149 Labour-141 Simmons-74 Hasnip-54" via We loathe Reform UK Ltd

On 6-7 November 2026 we are taking action across Europe to say Stop Dirty Data Centres. Local communities are rising up to stop dirty data centres where they live. We will unite and exercise our democratic rights to speak out, assemble, and protest to hold elected officials to account. ⬇️

Reform and Restore, likened here to Monty Pythons Life of Brian, and The People's Front of Judea and the Judean People's Front. We found this analogy funny. Though you probably have to be of a certain age. It's also a very sound article about vote distribution. open.substack.com/pub/politics...

Morning everyone. We're quietly being warned about preparing for Armaggedon, aren't we? And yes: we're simply doom-scrolling this morning. Isn't everybody? But what to believe? We need our Victorias, our Aarons, Rachels, Caroles, Josiahs, Meiselases, Caitlins and co more now than ever.

Only the Party who have failed to release the Epstein files, who have completely supported an adjudicated rapist as President, would think that this advert was okay. The Democrat candidate is Amy Acton, she was removed from her mother's care as a child because her mother

This is a quote from the Guardian: “Jussi Kangasharju, head of computer science at the University of Helsinki, said that while datacentres brought a limited number of jobs, potentially boosting the local economy, the benefits on a national level were minimal.

“Really, for Finland, there are no benefits,” he said. “They are international companies serving international customers. Very little corporate taxes go to Finland. Datacentres ultimately have very little benefit for others except the datacentre operator.”

Barclays have announced their intention to cut 5,000 jobs by the end of this year, as they increase their use of AI. This reminds us of the video we posted yesterday of Dr Richard Denniss, Executive Director and co-CEO of Australia Institute giving evidence to a select committee on AI. ⬇️

As we are constantly told that the benefit bill is too high, its a reasonable assumption that this will be one of the responses. None of us are prepared for a world of mass unemployment. Jeff Bezos, recently stated that we might all just work 3 days a week. Brilliant. fortune.com/2026/10/09/a...

fortune.comJeff Bezos says a 3-day workweek and more single-income households are on the way thanks to AI: ‘It’s going to be difficult to hire people’ | FortuneEven after Amazon cut 30,000 jobs, Jeff Bezos predicts AI will boost productivity so much that fewer people will need to work, creating a labor shortage.

Just Brilliant. But Who is going to cover a living wage? The AI oligarchs? The companies employing us 3 days a week? The Government? Isn't it time for a coordinated response? One that considers limits, guard rails, whether we actually need data centres, and a universal basic income?

Here in the UK Alan Milburn has reported on young people aged 16 to 24 not in education, employment or training, (NEETs), he tells us that 1 in 8 of this group is NEET. The likely response will cover benefit cuts. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Open AI, Anthropic etc will put millions out of work. There will be riots and civil unrest and Palantir's surveillance and lethal autonomous weapons will be used to quell that 'disobedience' and quash any planned uprisings. '1984' arrives in 2034 at a rough guess.
