Dinner tonight was Korean Keema from @nigella.bsky.social. A very quick stir fry with a very nice kick. Served with a Korean cucumber salad & rice. 🍽️🍜🍗🌶️🫛🍷🥒🍋‍🟩

Dinner tonight was prawns with homemade Marie Rose sauce, potato, tomato & broccolini salads. Broccolini, green onions & chives homegrown. Good on a warm night. 🍽️🍜🦐🍅🥦🍋‍🟩

I cannot help myself. I visited the neighbours place & picked more cumquats. Said I’d check them as she said they had maggots in them. Happy to say they don’t. Just a small batch this time! I wonder if there’s Preservers Anonymous. 🍊🍽️🍜

Dinner tonight was a mushroom, onion, Brie & chilli tart (from farmers market) with loaded potato salad and a ‘boring’ salad. Lettuce & green onions from the garden. 🍽️🍜🥬🥒🍅🥑🥔🥓🥚

The cumquats saga continues. Last night a neighbour called offering me … cumquats. I’d left a note for her weeks ago but she only just found it! It’s so hard to resist, but we don’t need more than 12 jars of cumquat marmalade. Preserve making with gifted fruit is addictive. 🤣🤣🤣🍊🍽️🍜

Been to the local farmers market. What a haul. Beautiful day and lovely to see our market mates. We’ll be eating well this week. 🍽️🍜

We went out to lunch today so I decided to make a cinnamon apple cake for dinner. Very easy recipe. 🍽️🍜🍎🫐

Yesterday I went and picked some more cumquats. These are 2 varieties of the rounds ones, one variegated. They were easier to pick, cut up and cook. They made a much nicer marmalade. I’ll keep these for special folks! 🍽️🍜🍊🍹

Apple tree absolutely covered in blossom, apricot tree showing how it’s done. Fingers crossed we get some apples this year - and not the bloody wildlife. 🐀🍏🍑

The final cumquat marmalade post - unless I source the other variety. The jam judges verdict is that it’s not as good as previous batches. The peel is leathery, however I did enjoy it in my porridge this morning. 🍽️🍜🍊🥣🫐

Dinner tonight was bbq snapper, tortilla de patatas with garlic & smoky paprika mayo and salad. A very nice meal on a warm night. 🍽️🍜🐟🥗🥔🍅🥒

Cumquat marmalade is done. I’ve never used Nagami cumquats and I’m not sure if the end product is going to be as good. They were harder to prepare, the skins are thicker and tougher. They also don’t have the lovely aroma. May have to track down some of the round variety. 🍽️🍜🍊

The first of my favourite roses in our garden. The perfume is fabulous.

Just picked and chopped up 1.25kg of Nagami cumquats. Phew. An absolute labour of love. Will make marmalade tomorrow. The muslin bag is holding the seeds. 🍽️🍜🍊🔪😥

Spent the morning chopping up nearly 2kg of dried fruit for Christmas cakes and mince pies. Now soaking for a month in golden spiced rum, mandarin zest and juice and spices. 🍜🍽️🍇🌴🍹🫚

Been to the dentist to have a permanent 👑 fitted and I can’t eat or drink. I may expire from hunger. Off to the dr this arvo. I know how to have fun!

Productive morning, I made a batch of toasted muesli. Whilst it was in the oven I made lemon & lime curd. The joy of induction cooking is you can cook it directly on the stove. Yum. 🍜🍽️🍋🍋‍🟩🥚

Dark chocolate, rum & raisin bark - sprinkle of coconut on top - finished. Soaked the raisins in spiced rum for 2 days and they’ve got a bit of a kick! 🍜🍽️🍹🍇🍫🥥

Raining and post earthquake, definitely a good day to stay in bed. Hope everyone is ok.

Look at our magnificent brocollini plant. The rain beads on the leaves so beautifully. May be able to start harvesting some stems soon.

Poor Peri was abandoned at the cafe today by her dad. He had a meeting in the city so left to catch a tram. She only had her mum and other friends - so was technically alone. Poor girl. Please send thoughts and prayers. #DogsOfBluesky
