Today's hearings in summary: Rep: Why did you release the names, phone numbers and addresses of the victims, while redacting the the names of the co-conspirators? Bondi: You’re a hypocrite with Trump Derangement Syndrome and everybody hates your stupid ass-face. Rep: I’m reclaiming my time.

This Week's News in Brief: 1. Pro-democracy Americans shocked to discover that faceless, profit-driven mega-corporations aren’t the bulwark against fascism we thought they would be.

2. Constitutional originalists remind us that the first amendment forbids Congress from making laws limiting free speech but doesn’t specifically mention mafia-style coercion by the executive branch, so that’s probably okay.

3. In a related story, Rep. Nancy Mace is being treated for whiplash after attempting to pin Charlie Kirk’s murder on “the left,” while denying that Melissa and Mark Hortman’s murders had anything to do with “the right.” This comes on the heels of her record-setting Epstein list 180 reversal.

4. Trump is calling the infamous “Epstein Birthday Card” a hoax, saying nefarious liberals forged the document in 2003 in order to attack Trump once he became president. It sounds implausible, but it’s no stranger than Obama’s mother presciently forging his birth certificate back in 1961.

This Week's News in Brief: 1. After discussions with Alex Acosta, Pam Bondi has concluded that two names should be redacted from the list of Epstein’s paid associates. Which two names do they want redacted? I guess we’ll just never know.

3. After questioning RFK Jr. in an often combative senate hearing, Republican senators commented, “We were just blindsided. If only he had given the slightest indication that he was batshit crazy 6 months ago when every single one of us voted to confirm him. If only.... ”

Serious question - Are today’s musicians up to this moment in history? Stevie Nicks is the only one I’ve heard take a crack at a protest song and she’s 76.

If someone in a position of weakness needs help, and you use your position of power to shake them down instead, that does't make you a master negotiator, it makes you a thug.

Yesterday I found my neighbor with his leg trapped under his car after the jack slipped. With no time to lose, I forced him to sign the car over to me. Art of the Deal, baby.

(2,2) The truth is, you have ZERO legislative function at this time. The truth is the other party is unified in this coup. Time for you to become unified and focused on nothing but communications and fighting like hell to save America.

(1,2) The Democrats need to reorganize today. Forget House and Senate, become the Party for America and choose the best Democrat for different roles. Choose a Press Secretary first. Choose someone to lead each department being dismantled who can explain the impact to Americans.

Just trying to figure out what Trump’s actual plan might be. Is it tariffs + gutting govt programs + massive tax cuts + deregulation = return of manufacturing? He may be catastrophically wrong, but he is still driving toward something, and I haven’t heard that explained yet (least of all by him.)

I’d just like to take this moment to express that Al Franken understood absurdity better than anyone in government and was better equipped to deal with the past 8 years - and the next 4 - than anyone we have now. Forcing him out was a crime and not a week goes by that I don’t think about that.

TikTok “ban” takes effect the day before the inauguration. The offline message mentions Trump by name as the guy who will fix it. Shou Chew attends Trump’s inauguration. It’s pretty obvious what’s happening.

Trump's comments about the LA fires -- spewing self-serving lies while lives are destroyed -- succeeded in making my opinion of him even lower, an achievement I didn't possible.
