Hot take(that's what the kids call it right?)... filled malasadas became a thing because most modern malasada recipes taste like regular fried donuts. When tourists in Hawaii tell you how great they are, it's because of the crazy fillings, not the pastry. Do yourself a favor and make some at home!

Elon is a Russian asset and is basically fighting Ukraine on Putins behalf. If he wants to be a part of this war so bad, he should just volunteer for the meat grinder and face Ukrainian soldiers on the front line in-person. #SlavaUkraine www.politico.eu/article/ukra...

Esri constantly pushing "governance" as the solution to ArcGIS Online maintenance without building the right admin tools is super passive aggressive. iykyk - and also you're prob an AGO admin! 🙃

#gischat Cartographic Representations were an ArcMap thing only, is that right? What took over from that in Pro? What does Esri call the functions that do on-the-fly symbology changes like line offsets and layered symbol styles?

TLDR... John Snow wasn’t the cartographer, he didn’t invent GIS, the map didn’t lead to the discovery of the outbreak source. This is once of geography's oldest and least accurate mythologies. What's too bad is the real story is still very interesting and informative!

#MapMonday On this day in 1854, there was a further major outbreak of cholera in Soho, London. Many will be familiar with the John Snow cholera map, but take a read of this blog by Dr Ken Field to find out how the history behind it, isn’t all we’ve been led to believe… www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/...

Every time he does this he erodes the value intrinsic in the American identity. He makes himself a petty weak fool, he erases history, and diminishes the identity of a nation to nothing more than a crude branding mark that will inevitably be undone when he's dead and gone.

More pixel art maps please! #gischat

Every day, India's Met department publishes a forecast chart for ~1,200 stations. Their cloud-cover panel is drawn to look like a pixelated cloudy sky! I've been analyzing the charts to convert them to data, and map them daily in the same pixel art style. #dataviz diagramchasing.fun/2026/mapping...

The point of Mark Zuckerberg's 6,500-word essay is to define a positive future for AI. Zuckerberg uses an example that is telling, in a grim kind of way: He asked an AI to pick out a “personalized” recipe to bake with his daughter. Read more from @lopatto.bsky.social: buff.ly/QouZnFZ

Contracted to do 2 page spread for a set of global expedition routes. Looking for input on projections. My goto prj for stuff like this is Miller. Winkel Tripel is prob a 'better' choice but I'm not a fan of the rounded ocean background, I'd want to ignore that and fill the page w blue. #gischat

Looking for (well articulated) opinions and impressions plus ideas for other map projections that might work well in a 2 page magazine spread for showing off global routes.

I can't adequately describe to anyone not from Hawaii who didn't grow up waiting until Sun ea week to hopefully/maybe get a homemade pastele from the local market (cause that's the only day the old lady who made them delivered) what level of food porn this is. www.instagram.com/reel/DbvsG5x...

All cops should have to spend their first two years on the job without a firearm so they are forced to rely on other tactics besides pull out gun and yell. They can partner with an officer who has already had two years of firearms restriction and is allowed to carry a firearm.

Every senator seeking to make Fauci the scapegoat for Trumps failed polices and blatant corruption should have to suck a covid lollipop.

I have my specific definitions taken mostly from my early years as a road map cartographer at AAA of N Ca. where both types are often shown together on a single street map. Curious if my definitions are specific to the industry I worked in, or if there’s actually consensus among cartographers. 2/2

Great example of why NOT to trust the AI summaries. Asking a question about outboard motor placement the AI responded with an absolute answer about the height (2" below bottom) but the post that answer is based on the author only stated how their motor is currently set up, not how it should be.

Gunny has a message for Donald Trump: monuments are supposed to honor principles, sacrifice, and service. NOT a single politician. The "Arc De Trump" is a slap in the face to all veterans and military families. It's time to speak out against this would-be monstrosity before it's too late.

Uh, pretty much anyone other than an infant, the elderly, or infirm would be able to put him down. There are 90 pound women in my kickboxing/bjj school who would absolutely destroy him! And I would pay good money to sit front row for any of it.
