Over a year and a half ago I wrote a thread doing a basic intro to the Uma series and good starting points before the mobage came out. Thought I'd bring it back now that I'm seeing people say things like 'it's for pedos' and I wanna help clear that up. Gonna add some modern intros in the replies too

I think this is my biggest takeaway from the current/ongoing Uma Musume debacle. Never, ever cede anything to fascists, even something as minor as a gacha game or an animated series.

uma is a great franchise about achieving your dreams despite hardships and defying fate, shame on anyone who tries to paint it as a reactionary-only space. take some time to look into things instead of dubbing anything anime-adjacent as pornographic/for chuds

Y'all please stop mocking all Umamusume fans as a whole over this debacle. At least over here on Bsky and of everyone I know, almost all of us are queer leftists, and so many people getting fucked over are losing hundreds if not thousands of dollars for not being able to go to this concert.
