Last night, with a packed house, I attended the Academy's US premiere of the impeccable 4K restoration of the Hammer classic Horror of Dracula. Jack Asher's Technicolor cinematography looks fabulous. James Bernard's score sounds even better. If you can find it playing theatrically, go for it!

On top of my ongoing always being sickly and in pain bullshit, which has been extra bad lately, I have picked up a bonus sneezy, throaty, ear painy, cold or bug or whatever, and I'm really fucking giddy about it. Hahaha. :(

Some absolute prick just almost drove right into me while I was halfway over a zebra crossing and I am so fucking angry about it. I heard them revving up into the turn instead of stopping and had to literally run out of the way.

I assume they just didn't see me, as they were turning into the junction from the left, there was a big car in front of the crossing stopped at the junction on the left, the crossing is at a weird angle and I am quite short... but this is why you stop and fucking check if you can't see.

They certainly saw me afterward when I was shouting and gesturing at them, and the guy just looked really freaked out, but ffs, what if it had been a kid, or someone in a wheelchair, or anyone slightly less mobile who couldn't run out of the way in a few milliseconds I had to react.

I have no idea how a fairly standard repeat prescription that I request the same way (via the nhs app), at the same time every month somehow falls apart every few months to the point where even the receptionist just shrugs and says "I have no idea why any of this is happening".

Fortunately, on this occasion the prescription the app told me had been rejected by my GP was just sitting in the chemist all done for me, so we have no idea how that is even possible, but at least it means I got it. Can't wait to find out what happens next month.

Nearly reached the end of every episode of Cagney and Lacey and I don't want it to be over. Fortunately I still have the 4 television movies known collectively as Cagney & Lacey: The Menopause Years left to enjoy.

In a recent episode I watched, Lacey's son Harvey junior goes missing in action on a training exercise and Lacey has such a bad reaction she smacks her other son really hard in the face before ending up weeping on the roof of an apartment building she no longer lives in.

It's interested that even mathematicians who are AI enthusiasts seem to be getting more and more miserable because of AI. It's happening to coders to. You can produced so much, so quickly with AI but it can suck the joy out of the job.

Have been suffering a lot of both physical and financial misfortune lately, but thought our luck was finally changing when our (very old) car sailed through the MOT and only cost 54 quid. Two days later we try to use the car and it is completely undrivable as the power steering hose is fucked.

On my 40th birthday we drove to visit family and there was a big HAPPY 40th MARI sign on a roundabout near my parents house, which I was very surprised by as we are not really putting signs on roundabouts people. Turns out it was for another Mari who was turning 40 and lived near their village.
