EA buying and then destroying BioWare sums up a lot of what makes me sad about now. Taking something good, changing everything about it and then rage quitting because it isn’t as good as it was is not great behavior

I’m completely failing the nerdfighters thing but my life is very full right now. I’m drawing bats at a live in person thing this weekend among so many other fun and interesting not online social gatherings and school related responsibilities. So I’m not failing at life, or even art.

I’m always a little astonished when a student says my class is their favorite. Today I asked a student why and he shrugged. “It’s just a good class”. Been feeling overwhelmed and grumpy so it’s nice to hear. Honestly, I think it’s the other students but I’m still glad,

The number of kind, thoughtful men with terrible trauma filled pasts who have told me women have it easier and being a white man is hard, is concerning. Our discourse surrounding this rape story is absolutely deserved but it’s also not reaching the ears it needs to in the way it needs to.

I don’t know the answer. Just that the question seems more complicated than we’re making it. The venting is necessary and understandable… but also? I dunno. Not feeling great about it right now because it’s true that women worry about being murdered while men worry about getting their feelings hurt.

But the idea that all men are monsters doesn’t solve the socialization problem we’re having. I love men. I have loved men who’ve done monstrous things. They alone are responsible for those things but we need to change something fundamental and it feels impossible.

My therapist says feeling things is important but I wasn’t planning on feeling things today. Could we schedule that for later in the week? John Green books are full of feelings. I expected that. Just not these particular ones. But also, lots of quotable quotes. I wonder which ones will stick.

I am a few hours in to Hollywood, Ending. It’s good but I went into it unspoiled (like John suggested) and I actually should have read the reviews. I kinda needed that bit spoiled. I’ll be fine but it’s just a lot for me right now. But I’m not kidding about it being good…

Teachers are being held accountable to standards they don’t believe in and had no hand in creating… I agree. I’ll go in there next week and put the best face on a curriculum that is nonsensical in its sequencing and shallow in its scope because I can’t imagine doing any other job.

I was having a hard time getting my afternoon workouts in. I whined about it to my friends and my therapist for weeks… then my daughter said, “look, the only way you’ll have the social life you want and still work out is if you go before work.” …

I’ve been listening to a lot of rpg lit books (not Dungeon Crawler Carl) and I haven’t been posting because I like them but I also have a lot of criticism. Now a friend has me starting the Wheel of Time so I’ll probably have more to say.

I maintain that he is still perfect but his lungs we’re having a bit of trouble so new grandbaby had to go to a nearby NICU. He has since been taken off oxygen and is doing much better. Has me thinking a lot about the maternal center of excellence. So grateful for all the amazing nurses.

…and she’s headed to labor and delivery to get checked out again. It’s not even me and I’m exhausted. I’ll either be writing sub plans in my head while I drive for two hours or taking a shower and getting ready to sleep. I just want everyone to be okay
