Thank you to everyone who came to visit our Tiny World of Infection at Chelmsford Science Festival, where we explored the science of viruses, antibodies and the microscopic world around us. A particular highlight was seeing so many people playtesting our new card game.

Taps our article loudly in frustration: doi.org/10.1039/d1rp... The number of women and men scientists and how they are represented in text books is a serious issue!!!

This is very sad to hear, especially after I seem to remember @drclairemurray.com talking about this exact same problem at least five years ago. BBC News - Only one female scientist named in GCSEs, research finds www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

To be fair, the 1 slice approach that is taken in the video has some issues, but for a family of 4 it works remarkably well for getting 12 portions out of a cake over a few days. Plus the last portion (what's left in the pics above) is just so much icing!

The #OpenBind Blind Challenge is now LIVE! Can your model predict ligand binding poses for 414 compounds against the Zika virus NS2B-NS3 protease? Join the challenge, submit predictions and see how your method performs. https://loom.ly/1aQdU3U #AIforScience #DrugDiscovery #OpenBind

Should say though that the amazing system that #Baskerville uses means that the whole data center uses about the same amount of water as a 4 bedroom house, as it is mostly a closed system, and only uses misting for cooling when it's super hot outside. #GreenHPC

A valuable day with colleagues from the Henry Royce Institute, sharing ideas and discussing our ongoing collaboration around data management and AI for science. Exciting opportunities lie ahead as these technologies reshape the way research is conducted.

At the first session of the #ENGINE meeting at #HarwellCampus. Looking like a really great meeting with all the groups on campus present. Held at the new #CO:LABs building which is co-founded by the @rosfrankinst.bsky.social. The introductory keynote is by #LordDavidWilletts.

Next up is #ProfessorCharlotteDean talking about AI for science, and what's next. Highlighting the complexity, but now alignment of government policy around AI and science strategy. Also thinking about #ResponcibleAI and how we can use these new tools without negative impact.

I like the idea of Human-on-the-loop as a view to where a fully internal optimisation loop can be created, but where the human effectively modifies the loop itself to make it work as well as it can.

Some really good points made by many of the speakers today about challenges around not just large quantities of data, but that it needs to be of exceptionally high quality to be useful for AI and other methods to not just reinforce our biases. It's great to hear these ideas gaining traction widely.

Really interesting and inspirational talk by Dame Nicola Blackwood. Her vision for transforming healthcare over the next decade is very compelling and achievable with the right focus. Looking forward to working towards our small part of this!

That is a wrap on #RSECon26! Thank you to every speaker, attendee, sponsor and volunteer who made our time in Sheffield unforgettable. Next stop: Edinburgh for #RSECon27! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Safe travels home!

Also as a #LEGO enthusiast, I thoroughly appreciated the new "Batton" which is being passed from the #RSECon26 chair to the #RSECon27 (Which will be in #Edinburgh)

Day 3 of #RSECon26 is underway! We kicked off our final day with a keynote from April Johnson on the human work behind open scientific computing.  Parallel sessions are running throughout the day until our closing remarks this afternoon. What has been your conference highlight so far?

Starting day 3 of #RSECon26, interesting keynote by April Johnson focusing on many of the "Soft Skills" which are super important in RSE. Nice to highlight the benefits and purposes of the keypoints #Welcoming #Listening #Connecting #Moving when dealing with communities.
