Beautiful, isn’t it? The Gateshead Millennium Bridge tilting over the Tyne this morning. I was down by the river and caught it moving in the sunshine — still a proper stop-and-look moment. Engineering, public art and a very Gateshead thing to be proud of.

In the coming weeks, we'll have a change of Prime Minister and a new direction for our government.

Whickham Front Street Community Primary School It was an absolute pleasure to be the ‘mystery reader’ for the reception pupils at Whickham Front Street Primary this afternoon. I hope you all had a brilliant birthday party celebrating ten years of your wonderful new school site.

I was back at UNISON Northern’s Labour Link regional forum today. I’m proud to be a trade unionist, proud of my roots in UNISON and proud to stand with working people in Gateshead and in government. We are delivering the Employment Rights Act and much more to benefit working people

Flooding in Sunniside has been a problem for years, with some residents knowing every storm could put their homes at risk. I’m proud to have secured part of the funding for the Hole Lane Flood Alleviation Scheme. Thank you to the brilliant team delivering that who showed me sround last week

Labour’s New Deal for Working People will transform the working lives of people in Gateshead and across the country. Great to be out in Bensham today with our brilliant Labour council candidates, Cllr Kevin Dodds, Crystal Hicks and Shinu Yohannan

Post delays in Gateshead and Whickham are a total disgrace. NHS appointments missed. Bank cards not turning up. It’s time for Royal Mail to pull their finger out and get it sorted. I’m meeting the Mail minister next week to push for action on their consistent failings.

New homes, new jobs and investment in Gateshead are top priorities for me as your MP, so it was great to visit MGM and HUSK on the Team Valley today to talk about the new, innovative homes they’re building in Gateshead this year. Keep an eye out for them in Beacon Lough in the next few months

Me and Ben have known each other as long either of us can remember. We grew up together. We went to Gateshead schools together. We’ve been mates for almost four decades. Tonight we were both invited to Downing Street to celebrate the work we’d done on the Employment Rights Act. A special evening.

From April an additional 32,000 dads per year will be able to access Paternity Leave immediately. That’s the difference a Labour Government makes.
