Appalled by an opinion column in the National Post endorsing violence against NDP leader Avi Lewis. The Post should retract this article, and apologize to Mr. Lewis. There is no place in a free and democratic society for the incitement of violence against political leaders.

Stephen didn’t just challenge injustice - he compelled others to act. For so many in our movement, he set the standard for what solidarity looks like in practice. His example will continue to guide and inspire us on the road ahead.

CUPE SCFP@cupescfp.bsky.social

CUPE is saddened to hear of the passing of Stephen Lewis, a leader, activist, and one of the greatest orators this country has known, who used his voice to make life better for working people. Rest in power.

This is a heartbreaking loss. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the families, the crews, and our union siblings at ALPA and CFAU, and we honour the courage of the flight attendants and first responders who stepped up when it mattered most. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted.

CUPE SCFP@cupescfp.bsky.social

CUPE is sending its deepest sympathies to those impacted by the collision involving Air Canada Jazz Flight 8646 at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, in particular, the families and loved ones of the two pilots who passed away. Read the full statement: cupe.ca/cupe-stateme...

"American corporate interests – backed by an increasingly aggressive, imperial approach to trade – see Canada’s public services and natural resources as untapped markets. They want to rob us of the very things that make up our national identity and the lifeblood of our communities."  Mark Hancock

Working people do not benefit from war, corporate greed, or the violent theft of another nation’s resources. CUPE condemns the U.S. military attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of its elected leaders, an illegal act driven by profit, not democracy. Canada must stand up for Venezuelan workers.

CUPE SCFP@cupescfp.bsky.social

CUPE is outraged by the United States’ unlawful and lethal attack on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We are shocked that the U.S. military bombed this sovereign nation. This is a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Great to meet with our National Executive Board this week and set a solid path for CUPE as we head into 2026. Grateful to my colleagues for their trust and support, together we’re building a stronger, more connected movement for workers. The work continues, and we’re ready for what’s next.

When public dollars go to for-profit chains, families get longer waitlists, workers stay underpaid, and our kids lose out. It’s time for the federal government to hold the line and invest in the frontline workers and the public and non-profit centres that families count on. cupe.ca/federal-gove...

What a day in Vancouver, meeting so many folks face to face, standing shoulder to shoulder, and taking the mic to say what millions are feeling: Carney and the billionaires, enough is enough. We’re drawing the line for people, for peace, for the planet. #DrawtheLine

By invoking 107 of the Labour Code to force an end to this strike, the Liberals are trampling on flight attendants’ Charter rights and handed Air Canada exactly what it wanted. Crushing workers’ rights is not fairness, it is siding with corporate greed and betraying every worker in this country.

CUPE SCFP@cupescfp.bsky.social

The Liberal government has invoked Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code to end a strike by Air Canada flight attendants fighting to end unpaid work and poverty wages.

“Massacre after massacre is being livestreamed before us. Bombs being dropped on schools, civilian homes and hospitals, and children being dismembered and left ‘with no surviving family,’ is a daily occurrence,” reads the letter.

Solidarity with Chris Smalls, a union leader who understands what it means to stand up for what's right. Starving children is not right. Assaulting human rights defenders is not right. For how long will our leaders turn their backs on the people of Palestine?

Gaza Freedom Flotilla has released statement that Black labour leader Chris Smalls (Amazon Labour Union) faced violence that no one else on Handala did. He has been severely beaten in Israeli custody. Smalls follows in legacy of Black radical tradition for Palestine. Labour must stand for Smalls.

Charlottetown Water and Sewer workers are on strike for the first time in 60 years, fighting to protect their jobs and demand wages that reflect the essential work they do every day. They’re not backing down, and neither are we. CUPE stands shoulder to shoulder with them.

Good to be in Huntsville today to join labour leaders at the Council of the Federation. Met with Premiers David Eby and Wab Kinew to talk about defending workers against Trump's threats, and joined workers and advocates from across Canada for a rally to defend public health care.

CUPE wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to Jagmeet and the NDP for all they were able to achieve in the last Parliament. We look forward to working with the reduced but determined group of NDP MPs who are returning to fight for workers’ rights, public services, and a better future for everyone.
