2/ A common theme for recent abuses is the provision alcohol to underage and/or clearly intoxicated people. University’s need to better police the parties. Local law enforcement not affiliated with the schools should acknowledge their responsibility to enforce law regarding alcohol and drug use.

1/ I think it is very safe to say that fraternities represent a clear danger to women who may choose to attend frat parties. All colleges and universities should stand down fraternities for the rest of the school year while they work to establish controls and policies.

I came upon a line a book that certainly captures our current reality. “Never before in history has lying been such a powerful weapon in diplomacy and policy.” Spoken by German General Paulus, who had surrendered his troops at their defeat in Stalingrad. From “The Fall of Berlin 1945.”

@f1tv.bsky.social Maybe you can explain this. Even better, fix it. 1. After FP3 starts, press the center button 2. Bring up right side menu 3. Select “International” and get Sky TV announcing team 4. 30 seconds later the picture becomes a vertically oriented little box in the upper left corne

@cbsnews.com.web.brid.gy After a story about a hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship, which has taken 3 lives so far, Dokoupil thought it would be funny to close by saying “I guess the ‘out of office’ messages just got a little longer.” For the 3 people who died, forever. Not funny.

@f1tv.bsky.social Are you happy now? Telling drivers they can’t comment on the new rules and what do those rules give? Both McLarens, an Audi and a Williams didn’t start the race. The overly complex and pointless rules have ruined the show. We expected, we deserve better.

Watching women’s hockey from Italy, the U.S. vs Canada. Hockey is so much more pleasant to watch when it’s not a series of slams in the boards and resulting fist fights. #olympics

In 2017, at the end of his first 100 days in office, Donald Trump made a political appearance at a manufacturing plant in Michigan, touting his economic plans. In 2025, he had to find a new place to hold his rally. The company has closed its (American) doors and moved to China. That’s winning.

Seriously? That singer was the best NCAA could do for the Star Spangled Banner for UConn/SC game? And, of course, for all the fake patriotism, the big flag, displayed horizontally, in violation of the U.S. Flag Act.

While U.S. financial markets, and the retirement funds for many, tank, Trump did what he does best , went golfing. As you may recall, Trump golfed a lot during his first term, over 261 rounds of golf, costing American taxpayers over $180 million. We deserve so much better.

The schadenfreude regarding Elon Musk is strong. I don’t know who else connected the dots; Musk bought Twitter with Tesla stock and borrowed money. I expect that the terms on some of the borrowed money was a one year note, so Elmo had to sell X to another company he owned to generate capital.

Anthony Hamilton has seen his son win 7 (well, 8) F1 World Drivers Championships. He’s also seen him struggle. Today, Isack Hadjar, a 20 yo rookie with the Red Bull B-Team crashed during warm-up & walked heartbroken back to the pits. Anthony Hamilton met him, comforted him and encouraged him.

When is DOGE going to investigate SpaceX? SpaceX 8 made a “Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly” which a wag on Reddit decided to shorten to RUDE. But since SpaceX receives government funds and subsidies, I think they are ripe for investigation.

It’s clear to me now that Donald Trump, in his term of office, wants to turn America into the kleptocracy that Russia is. The strategic minerals deal is just a way to allow his backers to skim money off the top. He will privatize parts of the government and grant no-bid contracts.

Progressives and moderates in America need to identify a strong leader, a face of the Democratic Party. They need to do it now. That person needs to be, IMHO, a veteran, with combat experience. They need to have had senior leadership roles. They need to stand up and call Trump a liar. And now!

Robert O’Neill, the man who claims to have killed OBL (he shot a dead OBL in the head), has started a vet-bro weed company in NY. O’Neill had a DUI and in Dallas a D&D that included him calling a black security officer a “n****r” taskandpurpose.com/culture/onei...

The headline says it all. Mostly. He was a middle school teacher and coach in…wait for it…Florida and his victim was 12. His articles have been deleted. Conservative writer who accused drag queens of "grooming" kids arrested for child molestation - LGBTQ Nation www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/02/cons...

This is so embarrassing. John Ratcliffe should be fired. During Trump’s first term, several CIA assets disappeared and there is evidence that some were executed for spying. But of course, they had to use clearnet to send the email since Musk doesn’t have access. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/u...

I have never been more embarrassed to be an American. Trump is an idiot and is making a laughing-stock out of the country. Even Netanyahu was smirking at Trump’s total lack of understanding of the basic issues facing Palestinians in Gaza.

I have fairly eclectic tastes in music. My first concert was Janis Joplin, my last was the Roxy Music 50th Anniversary tour. But I have been blown away by a 20th century classical piece: H. Goreki Symphony #3. Video: youtu.be/DoaEEVMrL-g?... open.spotify.com/track/7Mx00Y...

www.jpost.com/american-pol... Weird headline from the Jerusalem Post about a SWA pilot who was removed from the cockpit for “being too drunk.” Which begs the question of just how drunk do you need to be to be “too drunk” for SWA. Good news is that he was busted by TSA.

So I am torn, as a veteran of the US Navy and patriot. Because if the US sent forces to Greenland and Denmark resisted, I’d be supporting Denmark. I am a patriot, but “My country, right or wrong” is not a concept I support. When we are wrong we should learn from our mistakes.

In a late Friday email, Trump’s head of the Office of Presidential Personnel, Sergio Gor, terminated, with immediate effect, the Inspectors Generals of about a dozen federal entities, including State, Interior, Education and Defense. This despite Congress requiring a 30 day notice.

@nytimes.com Andreessen goes on to say, like he took notes, that he was told “there will be no startups. This thing where you guys can just start companies…those days are over.” And you put it quotes, like it was fact. No one fact checked this? We expect better of NYT. 2/2

@nytimes.com I know it’s editorial content, but you really need to fact-check the Playback piece from 01/25. Marc Andreessen said that Biden Admin officials told him the administration wanted only two or three large companies working, under the control of the government. P1 of 2

As most expected, Trump’s EO making Birthright Citizenship illegal was blocked by a Reagan appointee to the Federal bench. The judge said it was an easy decision to make and added, “where were the lawyers?” Which means, ‘what dumbass wrote the EO; we know which dumbass signed it.’
