Amazed to see the “UK re-entry” chat gathering steam. Do people imagine that the EU has nothing better to do than indulge the UK in another drawn out hokey cokey? There isn’t a single major EU administration with political capital to waste on this nonsense.

I’m not anti immigration, but I think this argument is very flawed. There’s no future model in which we maintain a system of benefits funded by taxes on the working population given the aging population, ongoing extension of life expectancy and imminent mass automation. Much bigger thinking needed.

Yes. When state pension started there were 9 working age people to every retiree, by 1950s it was 5 now it is 2.5 pensioners lived 3-5 yrs. now it’s 15 We have to address the 🐘 in the room. We need working age, taxpayers to make our society function. Even with every NEET working we need migration

Amid all of the legitimate distaste for right wing marches in London yesterday, the British left needs to ask itself serious questions about its inability to mobilize a frustrated and disenfranchised working class. The country is crying out for change, and Labour is dying in centrist managerialism.

Is it possible that the greatest driver for the adoption of AI by most people is that search engines have become dreadful to the point of being unusable? I’d love to know how many AI interactions would just have been google searches a few years ago.

Israel isn’t going to stop now. With Hamas & Hezbollah hugely reduced in force and no restraint from Washington, they see an unprecedented opportunity to turn Iran upside down. The failure of the world to act on Palestine has created this reckless sense of impunity. This will only get worse.

I won’t have some online King of Bantz tell me that the women who drive kids to games, fund raise, run shifts as medics for festivals, run bars and catering, provide physio and actually PLAY THE GAME aren’t welcome at a match.

Hopefully the last couple of weeks have taught the next Democrat administration that this across-the-aisle collaboration stuff is seen as weakness by their opponents, who are corrupt fascist psychopaths. Next time, they need to go in hard and fast from week 1.

You are never going to wake up and suddenly feel like you know what you’re doing and are suddenly on top of it. Everyone is bluffing and suspects they’ll be found out every day. So just do the stuff. You’ll never feel ready.

people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

The US has been an oligarchy for generations. All that’s changed is that the discreet and faceless wealth that has dominated for an age has given way to deranged narcissists who demand to be seen, heard and (most oddly) want people to think they’re cool.

the LA fires inspire a lot of thoughts, one being how absolutely baby-brained some people are to think that journalists with personal blogs can replace the resources, teamwork, and coordination of actual newspapers

You are up to date.
