New Blackhawks lines this morning: Kantserov-Bedard-Greene Moore-Nazar-Kane Bertuzzi-Frondell-Donato Smith-Greenway-Teräväinen Vlasic-Cole Kaiser-Levshunov Korchinski-Rinzel Byram-Del Mastro

I'm an American Jew. Opposing the Israeli government doesn't mean you hate Jews, especially when that government is abandoning Jewish values. Just like opposing the U.S. government doesn't mean you hate America, especially when that government is abandoning American values.

Yes, there's a real concern that anti-Israel sentiment can very quickly turn into antisemitic sentiment. And we need to be vigilant. But that doesn't mean blind loyalty and purity tests and locking down free speech.

Jews are not monolithic; no people is. But we're a people that embrace nuance and erudition and free speech and thoughtful, passionate, learned, open debate. And we need that more than ever these days.

Spencer Knight knows his numbers are down this season. And he, like all of us, knows why. "Maybe I can just enjoy the chaos, the volume." It's a reminder of how we still, after all this time, are grading the Blackhawks on a curve. My column: www.nytimes.com/athletic/772...

nytimes.comAs Blackhawks’ growing pains continue, when will we stop grading on a curve? (Gift Article)The Blackhawks went 0-for-7 on the power play, including a pair of five-on-threes, in a 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Every time I put on a Canucks game and they're wearing these flying-skate uniforms, I start dreaming up ways to imprison the people who thought the orca look was better.

Bedard on the PP: "Before today, I thought honestly we were pretty good. We get judged on if it goes in or not, and that makes sense. It’s a results sport. But obviously we’ve got to be better. Tonight, we were terrible. And we would have won the game; we had seven power plays."

Jeff Blashill said Kevin Korchinski "did a lot of good things" today. But he lamented the line change that led to the Panthers' game-winning goal. "He's going to want that change back."

Ryan Donato had two golden chances on that power play. Sent an open look high, and then juuuuuust couldn't get his stick on a Greene crease redirect of a Nazar shot.

Has there been a better Both Sides End Up Very Happy trade in recent years than the Seth Jones trade? – Jones got out. – Hawks got out from under Jones' contract. – Panthers won a Cup with Jones playing a huge role. – Hawks got a bona-fide No. 1 goalie in Spencer Knight.

Ian Cole is getting a well-deserved quick ceremony for playing in his 1,000th NHL game. I feel like the Blackhawks lead the league in acquiring guys right before they hit 1K.

Despite being 3-7-0 after 10 games, Jeff Blashill didn't talk like someone at all worried about the his team's start or the direction the Blackhawks are heading this season. “We’re not far off from playing the way we want to play," he said. My story: www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

"What would you give up right now to be minus-3 and lose 6-1? God, I’d do anything just to be a part of that again." The physical road back from a long-term injury is brutal. The mental road back is even worse. My story on the isolation of the injured: www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

Something Aleksander Barkov said last month stuck with me. The toughest part of his injury was "not to live life as a hockey player for the Florida Panthers." I dug deeper into that identity crisis. Really thoughtful stuff from Landeskog, Seguin & Eichel: www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

NEW: The isolation. The fear. The FOMO. In the NHL, the road back from serious injury can be even tougher mentally than it is physically. My deep dive into the tortured psychology of an injured NHL player: Free for all to read: www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

This Northwestern-Maryland field-hockey match (No. 2 vs. No. 1) is tense, man. I think I'd be permanently injured if I tried to play field hockey. My back hurts just watching it.
