Yes, we all know this is Mark Burnett’s fault.

Trump campaigns for Republicans: "Would Donald Trump be president if I didn't do The Apprentice? Ask it the other way. If I didn't do The Apprentice, would I be president? I think if I didn't do The Apprentice, I would've become president."

Got an email that someone was unavailable due to PSL…I had to think about that for at least 5 minutes before I could translate it to anything other than pumpkin spice latte.

If Anthropic wants credit for a discovery then it needs to go through the peer review and publishing process. This includes credit of all reference materials and co-authors. Oh and Principal of the lab is lead author BTW.

“The experiments are still in the queue. The PR is already live,” says one expert. www.wired.com/story/anthro...

I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding by Anthropic that science is like patents, it is not. In science credit is given to individuals whereas patents are awarded to the filing institution. The PCR machine may be patented, but doesn’t get scientific credit, it is part of the methodology.

Have we thought about erasing some of the data? Feels like society is at the “storage unit” phase of hoarding after filling the garage and formal dining room. Pretty sure the transience was one of the benefits of digital.

Pay attention to who votes for what…won’t rank some of these people again.

For the second time FedEx has sent me a tariff invoice AFTER delivery. For the second time they have voided it simply by me pointing out that tariffs are typical due before delivery and you don’t import items under multiple codes. People, do not pay these, they are not legit.

I don’t have many followers, but for those I do have in Oregon: if you don’t get your ballot you can request a new one online for pickup at an election office. A designated person can pick it up for you. Have a backup plan and know when you should get your ballot.

This is so deeply stupid on every level

A Chinese humanoid robot outran Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record on the opening day of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, posting a time of 9.39 seconds — 0.19 faster than Bolt’s pace in 2009.

My in-laws think there aren’t any cultural differences between the East and West of the US. They also got very upset that it took 10 minutes to get a coffee and restaurants don’t all serve chicken piccata in Portland.

I’m quite tired of the “grandma hobby” articles. Maybe women and girls of all ages are just engaging in traditional female craft, as they have always done.

Great article, add to the pile of other biases that get substandard treatment: black, native, overweight, women….is there anyone our medical system does want to treat?

Addiction treatments are safe, effective — and rarely offered to patients. That's because many doctors and nurses still view people with alcohol or drug addiction with suspicion and hostility. n.pr/4fFpY98

You know how pundits are always saying that people are leaving the west coast and how it’s terrible for business? It’s not, they just want that to be true so they can come live in this beautiful place for cheap.

I can’t even express how telling it is that she had to fight this case for 8 years and a ton of evidence was inadmissible AND SHE WON.

After a little more than a day of deliberations, a federal jury in Portland found Wednesday that Nike discriminated against Heather Hender. https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2026/07/jury-awards-plaintiff-at-least-75-million-in-punitive-damages-in-sex-discrimination-lawsuit-against-nike.html
