This is the kind of thing that happens down here in our "Free" State of Florida.
Cherise Doyley was in her 12th hour of contractions at the hospital when a tablet was brought to her bedside. On the screen was a Zoom call with a judge and several lawyers and doctors. She was in court, a nurse told her. The reason? For failing to agree to a C-section. (Published March)
Along with this information from @macfarlanenews.bsky.social we now learn that Trump is delaying approval of transfers to Ukraine of Patriot missiles from partner countries. What's next? American troops being sent to fight on the Russian side, along with so many North Koreans?

The Florida GOP & its darling Atty Gen'l seek to prevent a campaign ad from airing because it dares reference the illegal diversion of $10million of state funds. This is prior restraint, plain and simple. They know it, and they've gotten very creative in their filings. It won't work.
The Republican Party of Florida is threatening criminal prosecution of anyone who repeats a Leon County grand jury’s finding that high-ranking state officials diverted $10 million in the Hope Florida scandal. #DefendDemocracy floridatrident.org/florida-gop-...
Great piece from @adamserwer.bsky.social "...the quality of an education is not determined by the wealth you subsequently accumulate." Florida legislators already want to tie funding for colleges to the salaries of graduates, so we'll see.
@thegodshow.com, I hope!

As most of us have known for some time, the cruelty is the point.
Insiders are shedding light on a controversial plan devised during the Trump administration to convert warehouses into immigrant detention centers, highlighting intentions described as "cruel." A government contractor, who chose to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, revealed that Stephen…
You don't use Muse, you say? Do any of your friends or family?
Meta's new AI assistant, Muse, reads your email, messages and Instagram, supposedly so it can handle chores like grocery orders and canceling subscriptions. TIME went through Muse's internal instructions and found it updates a profile on you every hour. It profiles the people you talk to as
The piece begins, "If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by menu options at a restaurant, cereal varieties at the grocery store or potential partners while scrolling through dating apps..." The "overwhelmed by potential partners while scrolling through dating apps" part has me ROFL. Maybe it's just me.

Indeed, what if he means what he says? What do you think might happen if this maniac decides to use nukes on Iran?
ICYMI: At the U.N., Donald Trump threatened Iran with “ annihilation.” This rhetoric reflects a president struggling to find a way out of a war the United States cannot win, argues @joecirin.bsky.social .
If you are a renter, and this initiative passes, you are surely going to see an increase in your rent.

Form a league of farm teams.
The fix for college sports is not to turn it into a codified sports league. Colleges should be in the business of teaching, not running professional sports teams. If they want a league for younger semi-pro athletes, there's no issue with just forming a new indie league separate from colleges.

I get emails from orgs all the time asking me to contact decision makers for one reason or another. Now, apparently, if you don't know for certain who sent you a request, you had better check the final product to be sure that it wasn't altered to say exactly the opposite of what you wanted.

We've all had days when a LOT of little annoyances = one miserable day. Similarly, we read daily major stories of our slide into fascism, but beneath the surface are a 100 other stories that together add up to real alarm. @caitoz.bsky.social has a few examples of those lesser stories.

Florida's Senate primary is tomorrow. Alexander Vindman won't call Gaza a genocide. His campaign site has nothing on healthcare or voting rights. Angie Nixon is a Jacksonville State Rep with a real record—Medicare for All, standing against unconstitutional redistricting. Vote Angie Nixon.

📌NOTE: I spent my professional life as a newspaperman, and managed newsrooms. It is impossible to frame just how dangerous, incompetent, and complicit our inside the Beltway, mainstream media is right now. Well, I took a crack at it, and hope you'll have a look. -Thanks
“As long as they limit the blockade to oil tankers, Saudi Arabia can stay out of the war,” he said. “The day they begin threatening our food supply, that changes everything. But we’re not there yet.”
Editor’s Pick: Saudi Arabia has spent years trying to make itself indispensable to the global economy. But that transformation has created a new vulnerability: It increasingly depends on a regional peace it cannot control.
Lettuce. Mixed lettuces. Jalepenos. And now salsa and guac. This is ridculous!
Working people are already struggling with exorbitant grocery prices and are now, due to the Trump admin's policies, increasingly being forced to choose between throwing out the food they paid high prices for or getting sick and thus getting paid less for missing work.
This is worth reading. I thought I knew about the CDC situation fairly well, but I learned a couple of things from this piece.
The CDC isn't being actively antagonized to the degree it was in 2025. But things aren't better. This is a new circle of hell. One where we try and fail to clean up the damage done by this admin to our public health infrastructure. Over and over again. www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/seco...
