The book is as much a deep dive into the vast administrative and political machinery of the League of Nations as it is an experiment in applying network analysis to a large historical dataset—a method that explains my involvement with HNR.

Six years of research in the United Nations archives combining the history of international organizations and computational humanities to investigate the network of diplomatic, administrative, and scientific exchanges of the ICIC, the precursor to UNESCO in the 1920s and 1930s.

Check out the new HNR Bibliography, now with more references and a simple century/continent/other tagging system! Hope this will be useful for discovering relevant studies on historical networks #networkanalysis #history #ancienthistory #pastnetworks

It's really just a funny little essay that draws on a few key references from the historiography of computing in history to reflect on our "artisanal” practice in the digital age. And which concludes that it is important to remain crafty historians in a world where technology is constantly changing.

(attending the CISH in Leipzig these days and hearing excellent colleagues speak about digital history reminds me that I haven’t mentioned this chapter, which was published earlier this year)

We finally rebuilt our OpenGL visualization engine from scratch, a long-held dream for the team. The result? A massive performance boost, our most reliable version to date, 50+ bug fixes, and exciting new features. The wait was worth it!
