@jacobsoboroff.bsky.social What’s going on with people who were adopted from overseas - Korea, Vietnam, Romania, South America? The parents by adoption have to formalize the kids’ American citizenship when they are older, and things go wrong - as in all families - and they don’t do that last step.

Don’t believe the lies you hear about immigrant and undocumented workers. The real villains are the powerful corporations that want workers fighting one another while they rake in record profits at their expense.

@velshi.com One difficulty in getting money out of politics is that the beneficiaries of much of this money is … tv channels that run political ads. Perhaps we could start by requiring evidence presentable to a committee for claims made in ads, so at least they are not outright lies.

#TCMParty I’ve got “Call Her Savage” on TCM - fascinating movie - am I the only one watching it?

@velshi.com It was mentioned in the 3rd hour of your show today that the cost of child care equals the after tax income of many employees. Something I have noticed is that women are working for benefits, while their husbands are self-employed or working at higher paying jobs that have no benefits.

#TCMParty This is such an inspired film. I always think of poor Jack Lemmon in The Apartment, sitting down at the tv to eat dinner and delighted to see it’s coming on, then gives up because there are so many ads.

#TCMParty I read the book this movie is based on years ago, and later saw the movie. I thought at the time that it was a pretty faithful rendition. The Titanic fascinated me because there was a woman in town who had lost her husband when they were a young married couple, and he was trapped. So sad.
