It's the style in Israel now, too. Bennett, Lapid, Hendel, Winter (polo, but close enough), sometimes Golan, all doing the t-shirt thing. All trying to be very warrior-caste and differentiate from the older Netanyahu and the doughier Eisenkot.

I went to a Habs game once, and the two guys behind me spoke in perfect Franglais the entire time, and it was more entertaining than the game. "Les Rangers suckez, mais non?" "Taberouette, ceci un bad pass, hein?"

Each of these songs are either an enduring memory of the mid-90s or I have never heard of it. There's not a single "oh yeah, that one" in the bunch.

There's a bus I take home in the afternoon sometimes and more often than not, the driver will come to a stop in the middle of the road, a guy will run out from a falafel place opposite, hand her order through the driver's window, and she resumes the route. It's not always an instantaneous handoff.

Some of you will have seen the new Citroen 2CV already. I’m at the launch and I think it looks great. Smaller, lighter, electric and really not expensive

This seems like a nice place to legally reside.

From yesterday's - I did it mid-afternoon instead of the usual evening because I was on my way out the door to head to an event in this city.

Wow. The CAQ in Quebec went from having a majority government to having 0 seats. I know it happened in New Brunswick when Frank McKenna won every seat and wiped away the Tories, but that's got to be really rare.

1.) I feel like this guy was a Mets fixture and he made exactly 11 starts for them (he did start the post 9/11 return home, though) 2.) SEVENTEEN major league seasons with a lifetime 4.62 ERA. 3.) Unless you know it already, you will require many guesses before you figure out what country he's from.

One of those lies that university administrators tell themselves is that an athletics program drives donations. Not only is the Rutgers athletic program losing money, I wonder how much Rutgers is losing in donations because people don't want their donations going towards this. #RURahRah

“Firing Schiano and his coaching staff would cost Rutgers roughly $28 million over the next three years.” I should check the small print in my contract to see how many tens of millions Rutgers would pay me for sucking at my job.

(I told Rutgers to piss off 3 months after I graduated when they sent me a bill for about $2K because they had "miscalculated" the tuition waiver amount of an assistantship I had. I sent them the check with a letter saying this would be the last dime I ever gave to Rutgers. And they haven't called.)

I was in Israel and didn't have immediate access to news. But I figured I could call the venerable 718-507-TIXX and see if there was an option on the menu talking about NLDS tickets. There was. #LGM

On this day in 1999, Al Leiter threw a complete game two-hit shutout on 135 pitches to give the Mets a 5-0 win over the Reds in the one-game playoff, sending the Mets into the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

I know a guy with this name, same spelling, too, and it took me a bit to remember why it was so familiar. Also, in the picture, he's wearing a Mets hat - he signed with the Mets in 2019, spent the whole year in AAA, and never appeared in the bigs for the actual Mets.

During the war, I had to spend about 2 hours on a construction site, and there's no way we were getting to the shelter in the ~90 seconds from sirens to impact (they wouldn't stop work and move on the early warning, which is another 2-3 minutes). I was muttering nomissiles nomissiles like a mantra

Something you'll only see in Israel on a construction site: a shelter Tel Aviv, Ayalon 24/09/2026, 13:38 #constructionTLV

Seriously, though, 2 of the Israeli fatalities during the war were construction workers who were out on site during an attack.
