One of the sports gambling apps that sponsors all of the YouTube shows had an ad saying it now allows users to gamble to win Pokemon cards, in case you were wondering how things are going

Been playing STALKER 2 this weekend. What a terrific game. It’s incredible how it feels “exactly” like the eurojank original games while have innovations like “modern controls” and “a tutorial”.

Also; STALKER 2 has some of the best implementation of Dualsense features of any PS5 game. The controller haptics pulse and flash different colors like you’re actually holding the anomaly/radiation detector, while the demanding precision shooting is supported by great gyro support.

Still thinking about that mission in Star Wars Zero Company where you have to keep your team pushing forward as the stage gets progressively strafed by Starships. One of the best levels of the year.

Finished Dino Crisis. I totally forgot that Shu Takumi was the lead on this game. I’m glad he would take the experience from this crisis and go on to create Phoenix Wright. You know, a better game.

Its fine. It has some nice looking dinosaur animation and some cool looking 90’s computer screens. The ending sceeen compliments your “mad skills”. It’s just, you know, not Resident Evil.

Also, I played the original Onimusha for the first time. What a cool game! I wish the new Onimusha had as much sauce as this first game does. There’s nothing in the new game that hits like that moonlight duel on the top of the palace.

I’m playing the original Dino Crisis and, wow, it really goes to show the power of having a very iconic character design, because if Regina wasn’t here there’s no way there would be people clamoring for a remake some 30 years later

I’m sure being a Resident Evil-but-fully-3D made it a showstopper in 99, but this game doesn’t do anything better that RE2 or 3 did with pre-rendered backgrounds. And even though the game runs well, all those polygons compromise the gameplay—it feels slower and clunkier than RE.

My terrible students won’t stop talking about Biddy Blas. I was teaching class last week and I asked one of the boys to recite the quadratic formula and he shouted “SCRIB DOOON” and threw a graphing calulator at me

The mythology of RE2’s development is very funny in retrospect. “This team made the bold decision to throw away the game they were building and start again from scratch. And so RE2’s development period extended from one year to an unfathomable…two years.”

This is the craziest sequel announcement of the year, nothing is even close

Silent Hill 2 & 3 often get held up as some of the best looking games ever made for the PS2, but I don’t think I appreciated what an incredible looking game Silent Hill 1 was. Frame rate issues aside, that game is a PS1 stunner.

Deadlock resists traditional MOBA character archetypes with some of the most imaginative, inspired designs of any game in the genre, but don’t get it twisted; they’re still going to add a Sun Wukong

That’s why you should have gotten into video games, Pauline. Because up here, things are just getting better and better!

If you write critically, you have to do something besides get excited. You have to examine what's in front of you. What you see is a movie industry in decay, and they decay gets worse and worse. (2001)

Maybe I haven’t done enough of these “multi-campaign” Fire Emblems before, but the fact that there’s almost no difference in each character’s part 2 campaigns in story or gameplay—and the fact that they’re sooooo long—is going to cause me to burn out before seeing the end.

I haven’t played Deadlock in four months? But I see that update and those new characters and my heart swelled, god damn, Valve are the best character designers in the business right now

Almost Famous but it’s about teenagers breaking into E3 in the early 90s to cover video games. The legendary, mythical moments of the early games industry woven into a story of self-discovery and young love over one unforgettable week in LA. I smell Oscar.

Onto a second campaign in Fire Emblem and early thoughts: if you’re going to pick one of the morally compromised ladies, go with Leda over Theodora, because at least she has more aura.

Right now, there’s no point in playing fire emblem on normal with permadeath on because you get infinite rewinding potion to take back any turn. It would be interesting if the rewinding potion had a resource limit or the cost to rewind increased with use? But no, you literally have infinite potion

It doesn’t help that the game’s permadeath, at least in the part 1 campaigns, doesn’t involve the characters dying? They run out of health and then shout, “Dang! I’m too hungry to keep fighting! I’m going to snack it out!” And then keep showing up in cutscenes but you can’t fight with them anymore.
