I feel good. I managed to record a #CopilotStudio YouTube video in 1 take. This thing is being posted unedited tomorrow. Except for when I ran out of hard drive space and had to re record some.

I made a #YouTube video for the first time in a year. 📹 While filming a 10-min scene my daughter came into the room and asked for a snack. 🍎 Was making hand signals off camera to say “yes” while not breaking my speech. 👍 It was pretty funny to me & I left it in the video. Life happens. 😄

I wrote 6 #PowerPlatform articles today. So now I will rest for 6 weeks and drip them out one at a time 💧 But the neat thing is I might let people get them all at once if they sign up for my mailing list 📬 It will be a neat experiment to try 👨‍🔬

New Blog Post 😃 In this #PowerAutomate article I show how to get data from a #PowerBI dataset 📊 It’s off the charts. You can get thousands of rows and perform aggregations (sum, count, etc) 🔥 🔗 www.matthewdevaney.com/power-automa...

matthewdevaney.comPower Automate Run A Query Against A Power BI DatasetPower Automate can query a Power BI dataset to return an array of values. This is useful for retrieving the count and sum of large datasets.

New Blog Post 😃 In this #PowerAutomate article I give examples of how to use the body function, actions function, and outputs function 👨‍💻 The actions function is best because you can get header values that don’t appear in the dynamic values list 🔥 🔗 www.matthewdevaney.com/power-automa...

New Blog Post 😀 In this #PowerAutomate article I show how to use the item() function and the items() function 📚 If you want to master the craft of building flows its a great idea to study the flow expressions language 🏆 🔗 www.matthewdevaney.com/power-automa...

Business value 💼 Using filtered views, admins can secure record-level access by defining security based on certain values of a field. For example, admins can define access to records where the City field value is equal to Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond. 2/3

Feature details ⭐️ Dataverse has a role-based security model where record-level access is determined by record ownership. This model cannot support reporting & analytical records with no record of ownership. With this feature admins can define security roles using filters for values in a column /3

Agents 🪄 Bots 🤖 and Workflows 🌊 All of these words have been used to describe the “mechanism” which performs automation. There is considerable overlap between them. And I have heard these words spoken interchangeably. It’s confusing! 🫤

AI Agents get people excited about the possibilities for automation. And I am all for it! 🤖 👍 The funny thing is that many times the proposed AI Agent use-case would be better as a traditional automation 👴 It’s important to know why a technology is the best fit to solve a problem 🤓 🧠

For context, I have 2x 10 minute videos and 4x 1 minute videos over the course of 3 years. On the one hand, I should do more because it’s good to have multiple marketing channels 🤚 On the other hand, it’s nice to own my own mailing list from written blogs ✋

New Blog Post 😃 In this #PowerPlatform article I build a flow to force sync users and update the Dataverse Team members when new users are added to an Entra Security group. Notice the cat getting being forced to take a bath? 🔗 www.matthewdevaney.com/force-sync-u...
