Matthew Hall

With most teams having played 8 games, the underlying stats are beginning to become useful while still noisy. Vancouver may be the best MLS team ever and SKC the worst. Both are performing as expected. There's a huge pack of average teams down on their luck.

A bonus #ViewFrom #VWFC newsletter just dropped! With the 2026 Cascadia Cup kicking off this weekend, @matthewhall.com sets up expectations for the @whitecapsfc.com defense of the trophy. 'Bonus Issue - Cascadia Cup 2026: The Defense Begins in Portland' - buttondown.com/from231/arch...

New favorite meal at #VWFC 🇩🇪

Sources 🚨 I can confirm that Joedrick Pupe is a candidate at the Vancouver Whitecaps. Far from a done deal though. There is interest but #VWFC are also looking at a couple other candidates. Club wants to sign a wing back and a defender this window. ⏳

If the #VWFC were ever going to bring in a European Superstar, it feels like we picked the perfect player with Muller. Fits right in with the team's vibes.

Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad reports that Utvik will return to Sarpsborg 08 🇳🇴 in January. He previously played for them from 2018 to 2023 before joining #VWFC in 2024. There was an agreement for him to move this window, but Veselinovic’s injury put a halt to the deal. Via GlassCityFC on X

Vindication for #VWFC and the Tim Ford disaster-class

📬 From MLS DisCo email: "Vancouver Whitecaps defender Édier Ocampo was fined for failing to leave the field in a timely manner in the 27th minute of Vancouver’s match against San Jose on Aug. 9" Just to rub salt into the wound. #VWFC

Sounds like talks have failed for Cheng and #VWFC have moved on to other LB targets. Sandefjord were asking for a sizeable fee and the Caps are somewhat limited in what they can do given their salary cap constraints. Via GlassCityFC on X

How all #VWFC supporters are feeling this week

Chatted with #VWFC GM Axel Schuster prior to tonight's San Jose/Vancouver game. Asked him about Ryan Gauld's return and he said the player is optimistic that he'll be back in the next four weeks. I suspect it's not the first time Caps fans have heard something like this, but that's the latest.

#VWFC captain sums this match up perfectly.

Sørensen says that he’ll adjust his tactics to place Müller in his strongest XI. Have to think that’ll be a 4-2-3-1 with him playing behind White. #VWFC Via Sportsnet650 and and GlassCityFC on X

I expect we'll see #VWFC open the upper deck for Muller's debut on August 17th - It's looking pretty sold out!

Hearing #VWFC are targeting Sandefjord 🇳🇴 LB Christopher Cheng as a possible replacement for Adekugbe. Nothing done yet, but I’m told negotiations are active. Cheng currently has 4G 2A in the Norwegian top flight this season. Via GlassCityFC on X
