i didnt grow up in an era of mcdonaldland ads nor do i have any particular affection for mcdonalds (worked there at one point) and yet i do wish mcdonaldland was real and i could go there

it's also about "what if a guy went through some 'a little life' type stuff but instead of keeping it a secret he talked about it all the time and had kind of a bad personality"

working on the new visual novel project a little more. it's called "cadaver monument" and is about true crime culture (again, but different this time), bisexual people in straight relationships, and how you can get people to do literally anything if you promise them an artist's residency

i have to go through west rogers park regularly every couple of weeks to do something and i've been learning a lot about all the hats and outfits worn by orthodox jewish people

in all honesty it was kind of a high pressure sale from a very aggressive hentai salesman at an anime convention. i had to buy something and didnt want anything with naruto characters in it

epstein is way too common of a surname for it to be used as a shorthand for sex crimes tbh. people are doing it anyway but it's not fair to non-sex criminals with that name

i guess by this metric calling sex criminals "diddy" is fine bc that's just one of several stage names used by one specific guy so there's no splash damage

they did a whole snl skit for that one guy but all the other epsteins have to suffer in silence while curtis sliwa calls someone "an epstein" meaning they were a rapist

unsure if chris hansen is proship or antiship bc he stopped those pedophiles but he also cheated on his wife with a younger woman which is kind of pedo coded. i need to know if im allowed to sell acrylic chibi primetime keychains at anime central or if thats (shuffles papers around) diddy epstein?

perpetual source of frustration that we supposedly live in an era of Awareness about every type of mental illness/"neurodivergency" but 9 times out of 10 when i try to describe my symptoms/what my life looks like to people i get the manga old man who says "i don't know. that's scary"

i get that some people are trying to make the best of a shameful and difficult thing by making it a positive, and they are not the reason i am judged or not understood, that would happen anyway. but man it's alienating.

i'm not really that troubled anymore by being socially weird but i would like to have normal short term memory and motor skills and visuospatial perception in order to do things like get a driver's license/consistently brush my teeth twice a day/remember what day of the week it is.

people mostly only want to talk abt it as a horoscope personality quiz thing or to assert how much more interesting they are than neurotypical normies. personally i am disabled and my disability confers no special skills or cool personality quirks

something i noticed lurking r/meth on reddit was a notable minority of people who started using meth as an alternative to adderall, or even after having an adderall prescription that they then lost access to

ghost malone ergo propter bones@proptermalone.bsky.social

it's not the only problem in the world but it seems very clear to me that better ADHD support leads to better real-world outcomes, and that the delta between outcomes for the well-supported and unsupported is frequently enormous

maybe some of those people lost their adderall prescription because they were blatantly abusing adderall, but also addiction to prescription adderall is a preferable outcome to addiction to meth

i think the reason this scene works on me (when the rest of the movie mostly doesn't) is that it successfully evokes a feeling i've had watching slasher movies

max graves@maximumgraves.bsky.social

what i cant fault jane schoenbrun for in camp miasma is setting that montage to a long december by counting crows. horror movies should have montages set to a long december by counting crows

when you're a dweeby edgelord teen watching slasher movies and identifying yourself with the killer, you feel the vicarious triumph of killing everybody you're mad at. but the triumph is tinged with melancholy bc you don't *really* want to kill everyone. you still want connection and acceptance

and fully indulging in the fantasy means deciding you can't have that. you have to put the mask on and pass the point of no return. jason can't go back to the way he was before he drowned

i'm not sure i'm even that sold on its artistic merit, i just like to look at extreme close ups of human faces and watch people behave in strange and horrible ways

i think in some ways it's good that horror movies feature less sexual violence than they used to. they used to sprinkle a little rape into any old horror movie for no real reason (see: re-animator, evil dead). but also sexual violence can be an interesting thing for horror to reference or evoke...

i liked obsession fine but i fundamentally don't agree that it's a feminist film. i think it was successful in part bc the viewer can see what they want to see in it

you could argue that it's subverting sexist tropes but imo it could equally be said that the film's narrative gives the audience an excuse to indulge in misogynistic imagery without feeling implicated

just saw 2 posts about this in a row on my timeline saying, like "so you can play as a RAPE VICTIM in fortnite now??" do you also get mad when you see freddy krueger in a video game, because he molested children
