Last week, we hosted a job fair in Boyle Heights, connecting 360+ Angelenos to resources and employment opportunities and providing entrepreneurs with sidewalk vending carts to grow their business. Our workforce is the backbone of our economy, and we're here to support those who help our city run.

We officially welcomed Marathon Burger and Kogi BBQ to LAX! These two restaurants represent the creativity, culture, and communities that make Los Angeles the best city in the world. Now, travelers from around the world can experience a taste of L.A. the moment they land.

For decades, Los Angeles struggled with a growing backlog of broken streetlights, made worse by copper wire theft. We couldn't keep relying on the same solutions that weren't working.

That's why I launched an initiative to repair or replace up to 60,000 streetlights, including new solar-powered technology that is less vulnerable to theft.

Making Los Angeles safer means addressing longstanding problems, investing in our neighborhoods, and delivering the basic services Angelenos deserve.

Seeing this powerful piece of history on display in the city I call home was deeply moving. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come, the sacrifices that made that progress possible, and how much work remains.

As Los Angeles’ first Black woman mayor, I carry both the privilege and responsibility of this role with me every day. I hope young Black girls see themselves reflected in this moment and know that their dreams are possible, their voices matter, and their power is limitless.

My father came to LA from the Jim Crow South, and I grew up watching the Civil Rights Movement unfold. Those experiences helped shape my path into community organizing as a young Angeleno and deepened my commitment to fighting for this city.

When you call 911, every second counts. Today, I signed a new Executive Directive to strengthen and modernize L.A.'s 911 emergency response system.

We're taking action to create one coordinated dispatch center for our civilian crisis response teams, hire more 911 dispatchers, and leverage technology to reduce wait times.

Whether you need a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or mental health professional, our goal is simple: get you the right help as quickly as possible. Every Angeleno deserves to feel safe and know that help will be there when they need it.

Today, nearly 300 Angelenos joined our Job and Career Fair with employers, job opportunities, and career resources in Boyle Heights. Every Angeleno deserves a fair shot at a good job and a better future for their family.

When I took office, I immediately issued Executive Directive 1 to streamline the review processes for 100% affordable housing projects. Today, more than 10,000 units of affordable housing have been built and 47,000 more units are in the pipeline.

We’re showing what happens when City Hall slashes red tape and works with local partners to urgently deliver the affordable housing Los Angeles has needed for so long.

Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, and while overall filming activity continues to face challenges, we’re seeing encouraging signs of progress.

That’s why I’m calling for an uncapped California film and television tax credit that includes more types of productions, along with passing into law our nation’s first federal film and television tax credit.

My administration will continue cutting red tape, lowering filming costs, and fighting to bring back productions that create good-paying union jobs for Angelenos, and support the thousands of small businesses that power our local entertainment industry.

Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, and while overall filming activity continues to face challenges, we’re seeing encouraging signs of progress.

Television comedy filming increased by 143%, and tax-credit-supported productions more than doubled their on-location filming days compared to last year. These gains show that incentives work, but we must do more.

If you’re struggling to pay your LADWP bill, there are programs available that can help lower your costs and make monthly payments more manageable. I’ve also called for a pause on utility shutoffs while we work urgently to bring additional relief to Angelenos. We’ll have more to share soon.

Los Angeles continues to demonstrate its strength as a global economic leader. I’m proud that the Port of Los Angeles made history by moving more than 1 million containers in September, its busiest month ever.

This achievement is a testament to the hardworking men and women of the ILWU who keep our port moving, support good-paying union jobs, and connect Los Angeles to the world.

Our port is one of our city’s most important economic engines, and its continued success is vital to our region’s prosperity and the families who call Los Angeles home.

Los Angeles is a city where culture, tradition, and entrepreneurship come together. I was proud to join Carlos Naranjo and his family to celebrate the grand opening of Botines Charros in the San Fernando Valley.

What started as a passion for cowboy fashion has grown into a thriving Latino-owned business that celebrates the rich traditions of charro culture. Congratulations to Carlos and his team!

We're making it easier to build in Los Angeles. Through my Executive Directive 19, we're cutting red tape, reducing delays, and lowering costs to move housing and commercial projects faster.

I joined Rick Caruso in Pacific Palisades to highlight our progress. His partnership has helped accelerate rebuilding in the Palisades, and his private-sector experience is helping inform solutions that benefit the entire city.

A city is only as strong as the people who look out for one another. For more than 40 years, Clínica Romero has done just that, providing health care and essential resources to families across Los Angeles.

I was honored to join their team, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, and our Shine LA volunteers in Canoga Park to help distribute food to our neighbors.

As Mayor, I’m committed to making sure organizations like Clínica Romero have strong partners in City Hall as they continue serving the families who count on them.

Los Angeles wouldn’t be the city it is today without generations of Filipino Americans who have helped shape its history, culture, and communities.

and honor the life and legacy of Florante Peter Ibañez, a pioneering educator and community organizer who dedicated his life to preserving Filipino American history and uplifting others.

At the Port of Los Angeles, AltaSea is bringing together scientists, researchers, and the future generation to develop groundbreaking ocean-based technologies that fight climate change, create good-paying jobs, and grow our local economy.

I joined Councilmember Monica Rodriguez and Horsemen in Action in Sylmar for a conversation about the issues that matter most to the local equestrian community, from neighborhood safety and wildfire prevention to protecting trails and open spaces.

I’m grateful to the families who welcomed us and shared their perspectives. These conversations are how we move Los Angeles forward, together.
