I want to congratulate our students and families, teachers, staff, and CPS leadership on this landmark achievement. CPS' graduation rate has increased by almost 10 percentage points since 2018, the same year Chicago's teachers secured the Sustainable Community Schools initiative in their contract.

Access to healthy, affordable food should never depend on your zip code. Our Market City strategy will make fresh and nutritious food more accessible Chicago while strengthening neighborhood farmer's markets and creating more opportunities for local entrepreneurs to grow and succeed.

We're only going to pass our Fair Share Budget if we get active, Chicago. I need YOU to visit your alderpeople and speak with your community about why it's critical for us to invest in youth jobs, affordable housing, behavioral and mental health resources, and anti-violence programs.

It has been over 10 years since the former Lincoln Yards site was left vacant. Today we are succeeding where previous administrations failed, creating thousands of new homes, good paying jobs, and accessible public spaces along the Chicago riverfront.

Foundry Park embodies the growth we are spurring across Chicago—providing opportunities for working people, expanding access to housing, and making places where Chicagoans can live, work, and build their futures.

Chicagoans deserve their fair share of safe communities, mental health resources, fully-funded schools, youth jobs, well-resourced libraries, and stable homes. To deliver, we're asking big corporations to pay their fair share in taxes.

This National Friends of Libraries Week, CPL thanks all those who give their time, energy and resources to strengthen our library system. We appreciate the support of our Friends organizations and look forward to building the future of CPL together.

By holding the bus companies who profited off the pain of the migrant mission accountable and passing funds won through litigation back as property tax relief to communities that have faced historic disinvestment, we are showing City government can do more than just react during a crisis.

Mine is the first administration in modern history where Chicago's economy has grown while crime has fallen. It simply wouldn't be possible to hire record young people, reopen mental health clinics, build thousands of affordable homes, or pass progressive taxes if we didn't know how to collaborate.

We need to put an end to this lie young people don't want to work. The demand for Chicago Youth Works jobs is greater than our budget to hire. That's why in my Fair Share Budget, I am calling for an additional $24 million so the City can double the number of young people with paid summer jobs.

We have a shared responsibility to help Chicagoans find and remain in safe, stable housing. Through these investments we will keep 3,000 neighbors in their homes in spite of Trump's cuts. This budget doubles down on my promise to build a more inclusive shelter system and reduce homelessness.

Mayor Johnson’s proposed 2027 budget includes allocating nearly $100M to existing housing and homelessness programs at risk of cuts from the federal government and $30M to the Chicago Public Library to stave off layoffs and boost staffing. buff.ly/FzzJd3C

I spoke with Chicagoans of all ages from neighborhoods across the City about our budget and heard a continuous refrain: after receiving billions in tax breaks from Donald Trump, it's time we ask large corporations to pay their fair share.

Our Fair Share Budget is not balanced on the backs of working people through service cuts, layoffs, or property tax increases. It is balanced through sensible cost savings and progressive revenue while making our communities more affordable, and investing in mental health and our youth.

We're fighting to give young people the resources to design safe spaces where they actually want to hang out and be themselves. To continue driving down violence, we need to pass a budget that actively invests in opportunities for our young people and doesn't cut the services they rely on.

Along with Mayor Brandon Johnson and CPS, BACP was pleased to welcome over 250 students to the #ChicagoYouthBizExpo this morning at Malcolm X College. The expo connected young Chicagoans with business resources, entrepreneurial programming & opportunities to turn their ideas into reality.

By transforming Malcom X College's West Campus into a more vibrant hub on the West Side, we are enhancing the academic experience for our City Colleges students and faculty and providing a welcoming anchor for the entire community to gather, learn, and grow together.

On Wednesday, the City loaned the Rat Hole to the United Center for one night only as part of the Smashing Pumpkins' Rat in a Cage Tour. But nobody outshines the star power of Chicago's dedicated City employees!

Too often, our seniors are overlooked, left behind, and left out of conversations about our city. We’re establishing a Senior Bill of Rights to ensure Chicago's seniors can access the City services, safe housing, quality healthcare, and the support they need and deserve.

By restoring the funding for the Red Line Extension on the Far South Side and defending equitable hiring practices at City Hall, I understand that the best way to grow an economy is to empower the people closest to the pain of historic disinvestment to be a part of Chicago's growth.

The Illinois Constitution limits our ability to tax the ultra-rich and mega-corporations. We need to make sure everyone pays their fair share in taxes, whether that comes from state government directly or from the state giving Chicago and other cities the local authority to do it ourselves.

In just 10 months, we have gone from breaking ground here in North Lawndale to delivering new homes that will give Chicagoans the opportunity to put down roots and build wealth in our city. This is only the beginning: we'll continue investing boldly to build the homes our communities deserve.
