Rarely in recent Missouri politics and governance has a policy change failed as spectacularly as the return to state police control in the City of St. Louis. It's a boon for legal fees, and that's about it. FREE ST. LOUIS.

The St. Louis police board announced Sunday its attorney, Chris Graville, had resigned from his position amid an investigation into open meetings law violations called by the governor www.stltoday.com/news/local/g...

Robyn 💙 thank you. Human trafficking is an all-too-real challenge on the Avenue and throughout our region, particularly around major events.

The people on the ground make all the difference. Excited to spend time this morning in KCK and later in Olathe with volunteers, staff, and community members to drive folks to the polls throughout Northeast Kansas. See y’all soon!

4 miles walked. Dozens of lessons learned and voices heard. Thanks to Independence Avenue for the time, the comments, the nice waves and hellos, and the commitment to building better for our community.

Folks can talk their talk, but we’ve built a whole neighborhood on the Kansas City riverfront out of former landfill space on the river. Come out and enjoy the Current game this Sunday, new local restaurants, and some great parks spaces with your family. Proud of our city’s rise!

Kansas City’s financial reviewers remain confident in the City’s ability to weather the global economic challenges and rising prices ahead. With our responsible budgeting policies and strong staff management, the City will continue to focus on basic services for our community.

VOTE! You can vote early right now in Kansas City and surrounds, including all of Missouri and Kansas! And join door knocking or phone banks wherever you are! I’ll be knocking doors in KCK this week. See y’all on State Avenue on Saturday.

Always good to worship with my friend, Councilwoman Alissia Canady, as her faith community, Harvest Church, celebrates 40 years of service in Kansas City. Blessed to be at Harvest today and to have Pastor Houpe, First Lady Houpe, and their outstanding community in Kansas City.

While national leaders question our credentials and promote the unready, the unread, and the unqualified, Black leaders throughout the Midwest are bringing progress in our communities and proving what excellence is. I had a great time with the DNC Black Caucus yesterday in KCK

Rise and shine, Kansas City and surrounds! I know it’s cold y’all, but let’s get out and cheer on all of our runners in the 40th Kansas City Marathon. I’ve got my shorts and tie on. See you at the starting (and finish) line!

substack.comElection Guide for November 3, 2026November brings an opportunity to reject overreach in our states and in Washington. With a ballot as long as ever, I write with some recommendations and my reasons for them.

It's almost voting time in Kansas City and the surrounds, and I've got recs! MISSOURI AMENDMENTS: 3 (No), 6 (Yes), 7 (No), 8 (No), A (No). KANSAS AMENDMENT: (No). JACKSON COUNTY COMBAT: (Yes). More here! www.facebook.com/quinton.luca...

I won’t be able to run into you on the train en route to work this week, but perhaps on the temporary bus bridge! Routine maintenance to ensure our routes are smooth and steady for years to come.

Housing Kansas City. Creating more affordable and supportive communities for all. Proud of our work changing lives and circumstances for the better for tens of thousands of Kansas Citians, with more to come.

Crimes are down in most major categories across Kansas City. Intervention works. Community engagement works. Our city, our neighborhoods, our police, and our prosecutors are putting the work in to reach generational lows in crime in Kansas City.

High on my wish list for new direct flights are: 1. Mexico City (essential) 2. Toronto 3. Honolulu 4. London (or any on Europe’s Westside) 5. Cleveland (the lake is nice and we love Kelce). Our team at KCI does great work for new flight options each day. More to come!

Kansas City is now heading to direct San Juan, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 . See you on board starting this summer at Kansas City International Airport!

I don’t know what y’all are talking about, but it’s been a while since my last Atlanta Hawks football game in Iowa City. Can’t wait to get back!

Leon Stapleton recently passed away at the age of 100. He was laid to rest today. He was loved in his community because he loved his community. Healthy groceries, good jobs, a safe stable neighborhood are what Leon brought to his stretch of 39th Street. We all miss him.

Satisfaction is on the rise in Kansas City. I ran eight years ago on “Potholes, Public Safety, and Progress.” We’ve made great strides on all three. More work to do!

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month, Kansas City! Our Latino communities have shaped our city through culture, entrepreneurship, public services, art, food, and community. This month we celebrate the history, traditions, and contributions. ¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

There’s nothing like an active meeting. I’ve done a lot of “walks and talks.” I encourage the “bike and talk.” Thanks St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer for showing me the light.

Missouri is anchored on the west and east by two exceptional cities. Enjoyed spending time yesterday with St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer to work together to support the rights of our residents, safety in our communities with Prosecutor Melesa Johnson, and development for the future.

As of today, Kansas City stands at 96 homicides thus far in 2026. That is compared to 117 at this point in 2025; 116 at this point in 2024; and 141 at this point in 2023. Our work continues to drive down violent crime for a safer community in every corner of Kansas City.

Marijuana users and all other smokers and vapers, please be mindful not to smoke in or near children's playgrounds. While smoking is legal in parks, we ask that you be considerate of a smoke-free environment around our kids. Thank you! Enjoy your parks! Enjoy your legal freedoms, respectfully!

We’re among the best airports for passenger satisfaction in the US. We know passengers are more satisfied here than ever before. Now, we’re continuing our work to get you to more places than ever before with expanding domestic routes and ongoing work for further international connections from KCI!

Housing successes and housing challenges center on how well we listen and adapt our solutions for the people of our community. Kansas City is getting more people off the streets and housed than ever before and has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to build up housing.

A cause I’ve known since my youth, I’m proud to lead nationally in the area, joining local, federal, and state leaders on resources and policy progress. Great discussions recently at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Leadership Conference. More to come

I am saddened to hear that Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd has died. Our community is grateful for the decades of hard work he performed to keep us safe. My prayers are with his family, his friends, his colleagues, and all who loved him.

It’s always an honor to share Kansas City’s success in housing; our City’s climate leadership, and our ongoing growth and development before audiences across America and the world. Spent time earlier this week with my friend Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and the KC Chamber. More ahead!

The people of Missouri win. Statewide leadership in Missouri loses—again. The maps are back to how they were before. Thank you to organizers and Missourians—300,000 strong—who stood up for the voices of our neighbors. (h/t MO SOS Hoskins on the baseball bat thing. It’s fun!)

The question now before us is whether the US Supreme Court stands by Justice Kavanaugh’s earlier rejection of Missouri’s arguments—yesterday. The independence of our courts, our elections, and our state laws is at stake. Shame on those forcing constitutional crisis upon us

As someone who still teaches law and discusses federalism in my course, I do have to say thanks to Missouri's statewide electeds for stumbling into one hell of a fact pattern for the next exam.

I recently sat down with Kara Swisher to talk mid-decade redistricting (and Missouri!), immigration enforcement harming our communities, and how cities are becoming safer. Proud to join the mayors of Denver and New Orleans for the chat. 🎧 Listen to full conversation. Link in the comments.

Thanks to the kids, parents, and an outstanding community at Border Star Elementary for letting me join their bike bus to school this week. @bikewalkkc.bsky.social organizes these around town. Looking forward to riding to your school soon to support safe routes for our kids and all!

Good morning, Kansas City and surrounds! Getting ready to bike to school with Kansas City Public Schools’ students and families. See you soon!

There are more ways than ever to get to school and work in Kansas City these days! Proud to make some new friends on the @kcstreetcar.org heading to their middle school while I headed off to this morning’s Council infrastructure meeting. Lots of good conversations.

Made it over to the Dotte today. Props to Mayor Watson, JR Hoodstar, Wilson’s Pizza, and all out for storm relief in Wyandotte County. It was a hot day on Quindaro, but one with a lot of love. THIS is regionalism, and I’m here for it any day for my sisters and brothers from KCK

Loved my time in Manhattan today with the Riley County Democrats, supporting common sense leaders up and down the Kansas ballot. A wave’s coming thanks to people across the Midwest.

My heart goes out to the family of MicahJo Barnett and the William Jewell community following today's tragedy. Kansas City and our entire region stand with his teammates, William Jewell College, its students, and all those grieving the loss of a talented young man.
